Bio Photo We Are The Chosen

We are the chosen. In each family there is one who seems called to find
the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to
tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.

Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing
life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe.
All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those
who have gone before cry out to us, "Tell our story!" So, we do. In
finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before
now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the
ancestors, "You have a wonderful family; you would be proud of us." How many times
have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me?
I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I
and why do I do the things I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be
lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying, "I can't let this
happen." The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to
doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able
to accomplish, how they contributed to what we are today. It goes to
respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up,
their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to deep
pride that the fathers fought and some died to make and keep us a Nation.
It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us.
It is of equal pride and love that our mothers struggled to give us at

Wesley Chapel Cemetery
I forgot to tell you, there are some churches there.... Parkersburg Baptist Church, and a Methodist church (I do not know the name). There is also an African - American Church about 1/2 mile away. I'm not sure, but I don't know that any of these churches keep the cemetery records.

RE: Wesley Chapel Cemetery - Houston,MS.
Sorry I'm so late in seeing your message. I just neglect going to this page as often as I should. Wesley Chapel Cemetery in located about 4 miles north of Houston, MS, at the intersection of Hwy 15/32. I'm sorry but I do not know who keeps the records there. At one time I was told that Wallace Norman, Jr kept them, but I'm not sure about that. It is a pretty big cemetery and I think all the graves, except for new ones, are posted to Find A Grave website. If you write me again, please write to my email address... and maybe I'll pick it up quicker.

Thank you again
Hi Deborah,

It is my great pleasure to thank you again.

You helped me last year with my Great Grandparents, Henry Agner & Elizabeth Roemer Agner, who are buried at the Riverside Cemetery in East Liverpool, Ohio. Just now I found you have identified where Herman Roemer, Elizabeth’s father, died and where he is buried.

Now the request, can you point me to where you found that Herman died in East Liverpool and was buried in Butler, PA?

Thanks again for the wonderful work you do.

RE: Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Houston
Deborah, I don't have much information on Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Houston, MS. I know it is very old. I believe it is connected with Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. The pastor would probably have some information for you. You can find the pastor's contact information here:

Good luck!

RE: Sallis Cemetery
Sorry to be slow in replying. I do not know the contact person or people for Sallis Cemetery, but maybe the circuit clerk's office or someone in the city offices could help with what you might need.
I hope this is of some help.

Unger # 25679671
Must send a SPECIAL thank you!! Have been looking for "Henry Unger" for five years, and here he is with the name "George Henry!!" (He was the son of my great great aunt Caroline Schwarz #34344584, and without you posting all these Ungers and my "falling into them," I'd never have found him!)

Thanks for finding and photographing all of these!! Will transfer them back when I get more linked together as I'm no longer interested in permanently managing more memorials. (It just makes it easier to add info/links and make corrections after finding more accurate spellings, etc.)
