|I have been doing genealogy for about 12 years, but just recently was told about this site. A group of Roop and related famiiies have a website at myfamily.com and we have collected an amazing number of tombstone pictures from all over the country. I thought sharing those photos and the obits that we have also collected might help someone else in their research. Finding a new cousin or two would be a great bonus!|
I am a retired gymnastics club owner, have four grandchildren and enjoy scapbooking and gardening when I'm not searching the web for more information on my many family lines. My husband's family is from north Louisiana, my mother's family is from an area about 30 miles from where I live, but my dad's family is from Decatur, Adams Co, IN, so the internet has been my major investigative tool.

May I please copy your photo of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery? My Stultz family is buried there.
John Stultz is my 3rd great grandfather.

Margie, thank you for transferring the Outcelt's and various family members to my care! I greatly appreciate it as do the countless family members that view their loved ones. Happy 4th to you and your family! Andy Outcalt

You are very welcome Margie. I spent 35 years searching for my g-great grandmother's grave. Now I transcribe cemeteries in the summer and search old newspapers for obituaries in the winter, so maybe others won't have to spend so many years searching for their family members. Glad I could help with your family mystery. Juelette Fadness

I have found Rachel Elder on my Ancestry.com family tree. I should have looked there first. Her parents are Lewis Keith Elder and Elizabeth Firestone Elder. Lewis Keith's father was John Elder who is buried at VanCuren cemetery here in Kosciusko Co. I think they must be some relation to Samuel Elder who Martha Hiner married, but haven't found the connection yet.
|Susan Creamer||RE: Wm. Hiner|
I was originally confused about these graves also. After doing some research here in Warsaw, I discovered that William Leonard Hiner married Rachel M. Elder on Aug. 31, 1872 in Kosciusko Co., In. Rachel was born in 1854 and died June 18, 1878 in Kosciusko Co. I don't have her parents recorded, but I believe they were related by marriage to William Leonard's sister. His oldest sister was Martha who married Samuel Elder. His other sister was Mary who was my great great grandmother. I will see what I can find on Rachel's parents. I haven't really looked. William Leonard's mother died in 1889 in Kosciusko Co. after his father's death, but I can't find where she is buried. William Leonard was married two more times after Rachel died. Are you related to the Elders?
|Susan Creamer||Wm. Hiner|
Wm. Hiner is my 3rd great grandfather. He also had a son named William Leonard Hiner. His son, William Leonard, was the husband of Rachel. The Rachel you are saying William was married to is actually his daughter-in-law. The older William was married to Catherine. She in 1889. William Leonard, the husband of Rachel died in 1910 while married to his third wife.

|Karen Ferency Baker||RE: Nathan Shippy|
I am not sure if Nathan Shippy is in my line or not; he is just in the right place at the right time. You say you have children for him...is one by any chance a Marshall Shippy (b. @1805, New York)?
Sorry for the delay in answering you; I did not get the message until I got a different question.
Thanks either way!
