Stories of my Illinois ancestors were shared with me by my great grandmother Grace Ellen Smith Scanlon at an early age and this sparked a deep interest in genealogy and learning more about my heritage. After many years of library and Internet research I decided to visit the areas where my Smith, Rowland, and Wilkerson ancestors once lived. I've now made several trips to Illinois, specifically Montgomery County, and over the course of these visits have developed an interest in documenting cemeteries. My main focus is on abandoned family farm and small community cemeteries that are difficult to locate and are in the greatest need of being recorded. |
Closer to home my Mom and I are helping with photo requests and general clean-up at Grand View Memorial Park in Glendale and research at Morningside (Pioneer) Cemetery in Sylmar.
As part of my masters thesis I documented how the victims of the St. Francis Dam disaster have been memorialized. I am thankful for my many fellow find-a-gravers across the U.S.A. who helped me locate and photograph the grave of each flood victim so they are not forgotten.
I do my best to provide complete and accurate information in all my postings. Corrections are encouraged! I will gladly transfer memorials to family and I am happy share my photographs, but please give proper credit: "Ann Stoddard, Find A Grave #46964942". If I have offended anyone by adding their loved ones to the site please let me know and I will promptly remove the memorial.
I can be contacted at email@example.com

I don't know why I haven't been receiving the notifications from Find A Grave, but this thank you is about a year overdue. I am so sorry I didn't know you had posted this until tonight. I sincerely appreciate your time and effort!!

You have done a wonderful job on the cemetery listings. Additional information for Fred M Burns. He was married first to Petra Duarte and had 5 children. You can find him on the 1920 census in National City, San Diego, California with 4 of them.
Thanks for adding this additional information.

Thank you for taking and posting your photo of the marker for her. Would you please send me the highest quality digital copy of the photo or could you please try to review the inscription? It appears to me from the 1870 census report, she was not born in the 1860s. Thanks again.
