I just came across the marker for Betty Lee, and noticed you have the name JOSEPHINE listed with birth/death dates. Where did the Josephine come from? I've never seen this name before and was just wondering. Thought I would contact you first to see where you found it before I contact Teddie Jo about the Josephine name. As you know, Betty Lee was wife of Uncle Chris Cotten and mother to Gwendolyn & Joyce. After Chris & Betty Lee divorced he married Dorothy and they had Coral June.
Just trying to keep with any documentation to keep files up-to-date.
Melbourne Cemetery Hi Chad, I just read your bio on Reuben Redmond who is now buried in the Melbourne Cemetery. I had heard about this cemetery about ten years ago and had tried and tried to find it. Finally, just recently had come in contact with a local who took a friend of mine right to it just on 01-31-2016. WOW! He took photos for me and is going to take me up there in a couple of weeks. I hope to get a volunteer organization to tackle cutting the brush and reclaiming the cemetery; it has graves for some early pioneer settlers to this area. Great job you did on his page! Are you connected to Mr. Redmond? There are a couple other Redmonds there, I will be posting headstone photos as time permits. ~ Sue
RE: White cemetery I personally do not know. I filled a photo request, that's why I went there.
Francis Brian is oldest headstone with 1823 date. Lydia Morgan White is next with 1834 date. So may be Brian or White as land owner. I would think it was named for whoever donated land, but that doesn't always hold true. Genweb may have land records. Also you can look for land grants or patents. Checking census records may be of help. Sometimes it will list if a person is a land owner or tenant. Court house would have land records also some libraries have genealogy records. There were 12 unmarked graves at the other White cemetery farther down the road on the left.
Anton Sauer I sent you a message about this memorial but on checking further, there may be two men of the same name, about the same age, who both came from Germany and died in the same month. I will let you know if I find more.
