My name is Joe Chrisman, I have been the Cemetery Sexton for the City of Winfield for 17 years and a genealogy buff for over 20 years.
I would be glad to transfer any memorial I have added, as long as the person is not related to me.
My Chrisman line started in Virginia, moving into Kentucky and arriving in Kansas in 1884. My 6th Great Grandfather Jacob Chrisman and 7th Great Grandfather Jost Hite, were the focus on the television series "Who Do You Think You Are?", Tim McGraw episode. What a thrill it was to see my family genealogy on TV!
I am a amature Civil War researcher and manage the Facebook page "Civil War Veterans Buried in Winfield Kansas Cemeteries". Please check it out and "Like" the page as well.
I also interested in "Co. H, 1st Kentucky Cavalry" history. My GG Grandfather Isaac "Ike" Chrisman was wounded 19 January, 1862 at the Battle of Mill Springs. Some say it was Ike Chrisman that fired the fatal shot that killed General Felix Kirk Zollicoffer. Documentation of this can be found in "A Boys Story of the Battle of Fishing Creek Kentucky" by John Worth Simpson.

I have actually done the same thing on a couple of my memorials. You want the connection between generations to be there. On mine, I state that I'm not positive they are buried there and I'm still researching. I also have a couple of ancestors that were (a) killed by Indians and (b) murdered by "Bushwhackers" in the Civil War, so will never know where they are. We do the best we can with the info we have!

Thank you for adding the memorials for Jacob and Magdelena. I am descended from Jacob/Isaac/Isaac Jr./Gilbert/James/Mary. Isaac, Jr. and his son Gilbert came to Missouri from Virginia. Somewhere along the line the spelling changed to Crismon. Mary Crismon was my great-grandmother. I too was thrilled to hear Tim McGraw describing the same ancestry as me!! I hope to come to Virginia sometime soon and explore all the Chrisman sites.

I am sending you an e-mail. If you want to see the PDF of the card I mention, let me know.
There is a site address included that, if you have not been to, you are going to be thrilled about. It is amazing. I need to go back a hundred times and memorize...enter names for months.
That episode made me look at the one and only Hite I had entered for some reason, the name just sounded like it would mean something later....years later, mentioned it to someone else who had seen that name. It turned up over and over. To my McCormick line: Terrill, Willis, Warner, and then I saw WDYTYA with Tim McGraw. I was doing a search for one of my Lawrences, and wound up on a site with the very same Houghton/Hite group. Then, I knew I needed to look more closely...and now it somes up again with my spouse's line at Isaac, Jr. I am a Texan, and spouse is an Iowan...WOW!!!
It opened up almost every line I have and how they link together.

Hi Joe, we went to look for Samuel and unfortunately he doesn't have a marker. I did find Ada Burger, who he's buried right next to. And found a veterans star right next to her. I checked with the office and they said he doesn't have a marker but most likely the star was his because he was a vereran and it is where he is.
Have a great day.
