My name is George Muse Gaston and for the last many years I have been tracing my family ancestors by walking through old family cemeteries and checking with county registers where known relatives have lived. It all started when I was nine or ten, helping a 1st cousin on my father's side of the family. For several weeks "Aunt Puddie", as she was known lovingly by the family, and I would head out early in the morning searching for old grave stones from Savannah to Edgefield, South Carolina. I can't remember who we were looking for, but I learned a lot about our family and the social history of the South.|
Family ancestors that I am researching are: Gaston, Muse, Devlin, McKell, Bell, Bradley, Montgomery, Pressly, Alston, Lyon, Glenn, Miller, Wilson, Lackey, Flenniken, Moore, Weir, Goode, Greneker, Calhoun, Dickinson, Service, Barnhill, Boykin, Wilkinson, Nicholson, Hemphill, Howard, Ochiltree, Howell, Witherspoon, McCambridge, Anderson, Chittum, Schley, Snellings, Lankford, Kyte, Kimball and Kerr. Find-a-Grave has been invaluable with my journey.
You'll see many entries here from the old family church, Cedar Springs Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (1780) in Abbeville County, South Carolina. I have fond memories of going there as a child and having "dinner on the grounds" after Sunday services. Here I have many relatives and always enjoy stopping by and having a long visit when I am in the area.
Since joining "find-a-grave" I have met many wonderful people and appreciate their help in my never ending search of ancestors past. If I can be of help to you in your searches, please email and I will try my best to assist.

George, Thank you very much for adding the additional information to her memorial. I appreciate your kind gesture.

Sorry to trouble you. I have been researching one James Kenady who married Anna Westbrook in Lumpkin County on 4/15/1841. The Westbrooks are my primary interest as they are part of my son-in-law's family. There is little information about them so I am searching related Dawson/Lumpkin county families as well. James Kenady was born about 1821 and supposedly died in California about 1852. I recently found a drop-down genealogy genealogy file for the Kennedy family at the Dawson County Library. The file contained a family history entitle "The Henry Kennedy Family of Lumpkin and Dawson Counties" by one Betty Allen. The author indicates that James Kenady was the son of your Henry Kennedy and lists three other children. Nancy, Lucinda and Cynthia. Per this book, Nancy Kennedy married Abraham Duff and is buried in the Liberty Baptist Cemetery. Her memorial is also on Find A Grave. Could you please let me know what you think of this information? (Be nice). Are you interested in this book? It is only 19 pages long and I am thinking of making a photocopy which I would be happy to share with you. I have not reviewed all of the information in it yet. There is also a Dawson County cemetery transcription book available at the library. Once I have finished with the Dawson County library I am going to check the drop-down files at the lumpkin County library which may have even more information.
Please let me know what you think,
Patricia Brittingham Secrest (member #46936403)
Thanks for the appreciative comments. I lived in Howell Dormitory at Georgia Tech for a while. It doesn't make me family, but it did make me appreciate the importance of the Howell family plot at Westview.

Thank you so much, George, for posting that image. I have what must be a poor xerox of that image- it looks like a silhouette. Not worth keeping. I am going to add your image to my database.

Thank you for the nice note.
Would love to be added to your friends list, I see my friend Anna O'Quinn is there also.
I have more info I'm sending to your e-mail.
If you would like John transferred to you, I would be happy to do so as this is not a family member.
|Tim Wilkinson||James William Bankhead|
Thanks for adding the obituary to James' memorial. I added a note about the incorrect month shown on his gravestone and supported by the obituary.
Are you related to James?
|Henry Webber||George & Nancy Ochiltree|
I have transferred both George & Nancy Ochiltree to you. My pleasure since they aren't related to me.
|Denise Bowman Flynn||Arthur R. Morrow|
Thank you for the additional information on his memorial. He is my husband's 5th great grandfather.
