RE: McDermitt in St Augustine
I've been to the PA-125 monument many a time, the last time with a family of Demetrius Augustine McCloskey's descendants in tow. Michael Augustine McDermitt was the first cousin of a McDermitt ancestor of some parishioners back in the 1990s. Got them to behind Dunker Church too.
I went through my box of 1,000+Cambria County CW pension abstracts (done by me in the 1990s) and saw you had caught every last one of the 125th men. There's a potential ID problem with Josiah Lingenfelter, however. His pension says he died June 13, 1899. Findagrave lists such a candidate in Claysburg, Blair County, PA. I should be down that way in a couple of weeks and will bring along the camera. You might need to unhook your Josiah and attach a new one!

Donald, Thanks for the info on this page (memorial 81596742) (pension info, Children, etc). George Mock was a brother to my great x2 grandfather, John C Mock. 4 of his brothers went off to war. One was unharmed, one carried a bullet in his shoulder well into old age, and George and Mathias were both killed. For quite awhile now I have been looking for more details on George and recently came across the hospital location/illness info on Before that, We were always told two brothers were killed in the war, but had no other info to go off of. It's always a challenge with the name spelling! Mathias died in Cold Harbor, but other than records showing he was killed there, we have found nothing and concluded he must be in the larger, unmarked grave in Cold Harbor. Just wanted to say thanks for the info!

Thank you for sharing the additional information on my grandfather. I knew that he served two stints in the war, but did not have both records..... I appreciate your sharing.

David H Johnson @ E Hbg
David, I tried different times of the day, but the carving on the David H Johnson stone is very difficult to photograph. I posted nicer photos of the front side (Decker/Johnston) of the same stone, that are a little more clearer, but his just doesn't seem to get the shadows in the evening or early afternoon sun.
