Phillip - I received a findagrave message you had contacted me but there is no message there. Please resend and I will try to answer.

I am involved in several projects including genealogical research on my wife's family and my own. As a result, I do not check this page on a daily basis and occasionally it may be a week or even two. Do not despair and please be patient. I typically answer the nice people first.

I do not know about 95% of the families that I have entered memorials for and will gladly transfer them to you if you are related. Please use the edit tab with your additions and corrections.

You may use any of the headstone photos I have taken. A note of thanks is always appreciated. If you want to use any of my family photos, please contact me. I may have more I am willing to share or exchange with you.

I believe in "paying it forward" as I have been helped by a number of people. If I have helped you in any way, please do the same for someone else and continue the "pay it forward" approach.

RE: Joseph Brown
Thanks so much for caring for his memorial. Yes, he is my 2nd great uncle, maternal side, & I would be happy to take care of his page. I am currently in process of obtaining records from IA to further verify facts about his mother, my 2nd great-grandmother. Best to you!

RE: Barker
Thanks so much for explaining more about what it means to be "in charge" of memorials. You have been a help and I will take your suggestion about the photo for Laura Barker.

RE: Barker
I am related. My mother's maiden name was Barker.
What does it mean to transfer them to me. I'm kind of new to this. Thanks. Janet Chamberlain

RE Edna Michener Mann & Roscoe
Thanks for adding the information

This is not my family line, I was ask to help someone who is associated with the Lecompte family line, and I got in farther than I should have. Now its just the principle, I think everyone should have family, not just their name and date on a slab of marble.
wonder if they were not deceased, so may

As to the different dates I have no clue
in 1900 census is 3/1881, 1910 = 1881, 1920 = 1883, 1930 = 1882, WWI registration = 12/3/1880, WWII = 3/17/1882, 1940 = 1885, SSN 3/17/1882
So it runs all over the place.

In 1900 & 1910 he is living with his grandfather David O Mann, in Hamilton County Indiana. I have yet to find his parents.

No need to transfer, but thank you just the same

Whitson Theodore # 88320113
Hi Paul,

You manage the memorial for Theodore Whitson (Memorial# 88320113) which overlaps with my interest in the Hover line (his wife)

Theodore Whitson was buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Pottawattomie, IA. and it seems to be he planned for his wife, Edith, to be added after she died hence her name on his memorial.

It seems, though, like her family actually buried her in Nebraska, at Anderson Grove in Bellevue (Find A Grave Memorial# 29548384). So her name is on a marker there.

I have requested the owner of Edith's Memorial to link to yours in order that they show as husband and wife (but maybe you can do that?), but I thought it would be interesting if you wouldn't might uploading the photo on Theodore's grave to Edith's explaining what must have happened so there are two grave markers for the same Edith.

RE: Watson Empson
I don't remember if I mentioned that we started going through the Pott. Co. VA Armed forces Graves Registrations. It is a very slow process and will take months--at least --since we are too far away to make frequent trips to Council Bluffs and 3 hours at a stretch is about our limit. I just finished processing the group we did last week (abt. 300)and then started going through the GAR Records. Both lists have many names of people who are buried somewhere else--as verified by Find a Grave or other records. I think the GAR records may have assumed that if wife was buried there, the husband was too. I have not kept a record of those in GAR records who are not there, but I could go back through the stuff we copied from the VA. I have added some names to Find A Grave if I didn't find evidence that they were somewhere else and I started doing photo requests for those that didn't have photos and those that I added, but Find A Grave has a 20 requests a week limit so it didn't take long to reach that. Many of the VA records said that there was no stone, so I didn't make requests for those. If you want to look through my Pott Co Virtual cemetery you can see the ones that do not have photos, but most do not have grave locations either. We did walk Fairview a couple of years ago, but most of the GAR stars there have disappeared over the years, so it's pretty hard to ID Civil War veterans. I'm not sure that it would be worth your time or mine to do further checking, but I will if you want me to. I do appreciate the offer. If you have access to cemetery records, you could check on the ones that do not have photos to see if there is any record of their burials. I am just getting started on the Council Bluffs GAR Post #29 records, so it will be a while before I finish those and the rest of the county. There was quite a lot of misinformation about regiments in the VA records also. You can contact me through my email too if you'd rather.

RE: Glasener
Thomas Enoch Thomas is a first cousin, 3 times removed, and his parents died unknown time and place so difficult to connect them. I am not sure where Fred fits in but could research this. I am fine if you want to transfer them. Jessie is their youngest daughter. I am trying to connect people on Find A Grave as much as I can.

RE: William Rolfe
Our great grandparents were siblings, so that makes us 2nd cousins 2X removed. :-)

My great grandmother was Elizabeth "Betsey" Lucretia Rolfe (1835-1925), Lewis and William Rolfe's sister.
