Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired businessman who enjoys genealogy as a hobby. I find that genealogy and "Find a grave" go hand in hand and its easy to do both at the same time and both are very rewarding. In adding Memorials for those in my family I have added memorials for many non-relatives in hope that it will help others as others have helped me. If I've submitted a relative of yours and you would like it transferred to you, just ask. I live in the Omaha metro area and thats where most of my photos were taken.Researching Bender, Ausdemore,Hittner, German,Ternus, Bockholt, Hatzenbuehler, Kramer, Wickelman and many others. Most of My family came from Germany in the Mid 1800s and settled in the North Eastern Nebraska German farming comunities and spread from there. In my research if I run across a grave of someone in the Military that is Killed in Action they get special attention and i try to find out as much as i can about them and put it on the Memorial. We owe it to these Heros and they should not be forgotten.I authorize anyone to use my photos for any reason."Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you." ~~~Princess Diana

You are welcome very much. I photographed the cemetery last year but have not had time to put all of the photos on here yet. Let me know if there are any others in my area that you would like and I will do them first. I hope you enjoy your day.

Are you related to the Bender who played football for Nebraska in the very early years? I think Cy Sherman wrote a tribute to George Flippin and a Bender when they died around 1929.

George Flippin
Hello Loren, my name is Kathy Nelson and I saw your remembrance on George Flippin's memorial. I live in Stromsburg and have researched the Flippin family for the last 10 years. I have written a book "More Than Football: George Flippin's Stromsburg Years." Four generations of Flippins lived in Stromsburg from 1900-1934. In 1910 George and his father were the only African American doctors in the state of Nebraska. It is a fascinating story of an African American family's experience living in an all white community at the turn of the century. It involves interracial marriages, abortions, civil rights, the Klu Klux Klan, and the determination and perseverance of this family to transcend its slave history and pursue their American dream. If you would like to purchase a book or know more about the Flippins you can contact me at knelson1945@yahoo.com. I self published and am the only outlet for this book. Sports writer, Mike Babcock wrote the introduction.
Thank you for your remembrance of George Flippin. Kathy
