|I love family history and Find A Grave has been a fantastic asset to my research. Thanks to all those who have helped. Much to my husband's bewilderment, I love tramping through cemeteries, looking for stones. He goes along begrudgingly, but is soon fixated on finding that elusive one. He won't admit it, but I think he's hooked. |
I cover Bedford, southern Blair, and southern Huntingdon counties in Pennsylvania, so if you need help in any way, I'll give it my best shot.
Please feel free to use any of my photos for your genealogical purposes. That's why I take them. I am happy to transfer a memorial as long as it isn't within my own line.
Most of my ancestors are in Bedford & Blair counties in Pennsylvania. Currently researching:
Shaffer,Reid,Scott & Purdy in western PA;
Steele, Hall, Hull, Davidson, Hodel, Clouse, Ritchey, Whetstone, Baker.

Hi Julie! How are ya? I just wanted to ask if you would add the pic of Harry Showalter's grave to this memorial: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Showalter&GSiman=1&GScid=1141200&GRid=75917123& . I told the creater that it is a duplication and the other one (the one I linked) has all the family members linked to it. Thanks!

Did get up to see the George N. Ellis 96485775 monument. The forth side which has ELLIS written at the base does have writing. The name is almost gone. The dates match his wife. There are four plot markers with the monument in one corner & then four small stones along the one side with each one having initials which I think I got photographs of. It appeared someone has tried to fix the fence.

Sure, I would appreciate the transfers. Thanx, Sam Sill

The George N. ELLIS monument has carving on three of its side. In the side facing the corner is George N. Ellis d. April 30, 1904 Aged 75 Yrs 1 Mo. & 19 Ds., going clockwise & next is dt. Sarah M, died Sept. 20, 1872 Aged 20 Yrs 1? Mo & 10? Ds., & then opposite George & facing the open part of the small inclosure is Aunt Callie ELLIS d. July 18, 1881 Aged 96 Yrs & 3 Mos. & 8 Ds. Did you see any writing on the fourth side nearest the driveway. It seems as if one side should have been carved with his wife's dates. Could that side have weathered all writing off? I only have photographs of the three sides which match yours. Next time I am up there I am going to check.
I don't know how you found this cemetery. It took me over a year to find it. This is located in what was the small community of Bethel and I believe the church there was originally the Bethel United Brethren & I think there might be records though so far I have not found them. Thank you for all your hard work.
