Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love the old cemeteries and they are disappearing. Some in my area are grown up with trees, they actually are in woods. Stones are broken or completely gone. My ancestors are in these cemeteries and they are disappearing also. I plan on recording info and taking pics, as I can, before those that are left becomes history. Seeing this tells me there are thousands of graves that are forever gone already. I would be happy to turn over management of a memorial that isn't in my direct ancestory lineage. Please dont be offended if it is and I do not want to give it up.

RE: Western State Hospital Cemetery
It's not for a visit. I'm trying to identify all institutional cemeteries nationwide (see link on my profile page).

If you can find the spot on Google Maps, just right-click on the spot and select "What's Here?" That will give you the coordinates.

Hey Sheila, I transferred your 3rd great grandparents to you! I know you will take care of their memorials.
Be blessed!

Yes that sounds really good. I will see what we can find out about the cemetery. I tried to find you on Facebook but didn't have any luck. If you'd like you can add me as a friend on Facebook.

RE: Old Unknown Richland cemetery
I wouldn't mind cleaning it up, and we don't mind cleaning it up by volunteering. We would just like to see it cleaned up and back in good shape. It's a shame that someone let this piece of history go like it has been. We just don't want to go in there and clean up and someone else reap the glory for it. We've got a few other people that are willing to help clean it up, and if we get a crew of people to help us then it wouldn't take no time to clean it up. Also where are you located at?

RE: Old Unknown Richland cemetery
My fiance said that 20 something years ago O'Bryan came in and cleaned it up and my fiance kept it bush hogged until he started a new job that took up a lot of his time. We aren't sure who owns it but we are trying to find out ourselves who owns it, we wouldn't mind keeping it up but would like other people to help us keep it up. Considering it's the only piece of history left in Richland.

Ephriam Brinkley that was hung
Hi, Shelia. I saw your post regarding the hanging of Ephriam Brinkley. The info I found in Earlington Bee newspaper 1895 stated that Ephriam Brinkley was lynched by his neighbors for supposedly shooting another neighbor in Nebo, Ky. in 1895. This Ephriam was Ephriam, Srs. son and my great great grandfather's brother. In my research I found an ad the following year which said that the wife of the man who was shot which admitted that she had shot him. So he was wrongfully hung.

Hi Sheila,
In the background beyond the stone for Elisha West is a monument. Do you know what it is?
Thanks, Sharon

RE: J.R. Beshear
Hi Sheila,
Norman F. Beshear "Fred" was my father's (James M. Beshear) brother, my uncle and, also the uncle of the Governor of Kentucky, Steve Beshear. Fred, with a partner, owned a furniture store and started Beshear Funeral Home. Fred, also, was in the state House of Representatives.
Another of my father's brothers, Eddie Monroe Beshear, Sr. and nephews, Eddie Monroe Beshear, Jr. & Orlando Russell Beshear "Russell" were Primitive Baptist preachers. The current owner of Beshear Funeral home , Jenny Beshear Sewell, is the daughter of Eddie Monroe Beshear, Jr.
My father, James Maurice (Morris?) Beshear, was born (2/16/1916) to J.R. Beshear & Sarah Clark Bailey Beshear (Sallie) in a house down the street from the cemetery and funeral home. I visited Dawson Springs in 2000. The house was still standing, empty, and there was a large tank (water?) behind it.
I would be happy to have the graves of this branch of the Beshear family turned over to me.
Thank you, Sharon Beshear Meece
