I started researching my family roots on my mother's side, that I knew little about, in Aug 2010 . I soon became hooked on this kind of research! |
I first learned about Find a Grave in Oct 2011 and as I walked and photographed my first cemetery I knew I had found a new hobby! Most weekends when the weather is nice you will find me photographing in one of the many cemeteries near by. I am loving exploring and photographing cemeteries. The history, nature and quiet is wonderful after a hectic work week.
Many people are drawn to the oldest and biggest monuments in a cemetery, but not me. I learned early on that I can't just go and photograph one or two photo requests - I have this need to capture each stone and the smallest, seemingly forgotten stones have the most appeal to me. Curious about many of the names I see repeated throughout a specific cemetery I often will do some research to see how I can link the memorials up. I especially like taking that one name that doesn't match anyone else in the cemetery and linking him or her to family in other cemeteries.
I know I'm lagging behind in getting photos uploaded. If I've created a memorial though it means I do have a photo and want to upload it as time permits. Please ask if you don't see a photo for a memorial you're interested in and I'll be glad to upload it right away!
VOLUNTEER PHOTO NOTES: The photos that I take of memorials are yours, they are for you. You do not need to ask my permission to use them.
MEMORIAL TRANSFERS: Please use the Edit tab for requesting transfers. There are good instructions in the FAQ if you don't know how.
