9-27-14. I'm HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL NOW. MY ON LINE TIME WILL BE LIMITIED FOR THE NEXT 3 TO 4 MONTHS WHILE I RECOVER. |
Most Ft. Snelling interments of servicemen and their families I have added I didn't know personally. I add head stone photos and a token/note when possible. I do this to honor the men and their families. I want to give their pages something more than just a name and a date.
"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."
I'm from Minneapolis, MN and have lived in this area all my life. I'm a proud veteran and spent 3 years in the army and I served two tours of duty in Viet Nam, (late 1969-1972.) I was wounded twice. I was assigned to The First Cavalry Division and was in the infantry and then a combat engineer & operated a bulldozer & later I was assigned to aviation and was a crew chief/door gunner on a UH-1 Huey helicopter. I'm a recipient of the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, two Air Medals, two Commendation Medals, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Aircraft Crewman Wings, & a Marksman Rifle Medal.
I'm a former local truck driver of 35 years and a former part time fire photographer for seven years. I was forced to retire in 2004 due to back problems. Now I spend time listing interments. I fill photo requests for Fort Snelling National Cemetery. If you see ANY FT. Snelling memorials with a mistake or missing plots & sections or need a spouse/parents links added please let me know and I will get it corrected or updated.
I do appreciate you visiting Aaron's memorial and for all of your kind words. Thank you so much. It has helped a lot with the passing of my beloved Aaron. Aaron was a blessing and I miss him so much.
If you see anything that I have submitted that needs correction, please let me know. I will be happy to correct it.

It was an honor to visit your friend's memorial & leaving him a token...
Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours,

You're very welcome, Steve. I was honored to do it. The weather was not Too bad. Too bad the lower inscription on his stone was under the snow and filled with ice, so it doesn't show up as well.

Aww, thanks Steve! I come across your beautiful notes and photos all the time and am looking forward to meeting you and the crew. So glad you are feeling up to it. Honestly, the Fort Snelling default photo is the coolest one I've ever seen here on this site. I almost hate to put up a grave marker photo that covers it up!

|rosie mcnaughton||Hi Steve,|
Hope you are improving quickly and enjoying life a little more.

Your photo of Fort Snelling National Cemetery is absolutely awesome! You caught it at just exactly the right moment to enhance the beauty of the headstones all in an orderly row with God's rainbow above, like He is watching over all. Thank you for the magical moment you are sharing with all. :-)
|Eileen Delaney||Thank you!|
I came across your name when looking for graves in MN. My great grandfather was buried at Ft. Snelling in 1900.
But I just wanted to say thank you for your service to our country and the service that you provide now.
I saw that you were recently in the hospital. I am a nurse at the Tucson VA, and hope that you are on the mend.

Thank you for the beautiful photo of the cemetery, that was so thoughtful of you to take your time out to do this.

I also wanted to thank you for the beautiful picture of Fort Snelling Cemetery. I happened upon it while searching for an Erie link -- didn't find the right person but your picture made it worth the unsuccessful search.
