. RECORD UPDATE REQUEST- see below
The Melrose Beacon interviewed me and published a story about my involvement & experience with the Find A Grave web site.
After this story appeared, I have been inundated with requests to update records. This might be a good time to strengthen your patience skills because your request may take more than 30 days to complete.
Thanks for your understanding in this situation.
. TRANSFERS Of RECORDS - see below
Quincy Stroeing - I am a native of Melrose, Minn, which is in central Minnesota - 100 miles northwest of the Twin Cities in Stearns County.
Alcuin H & Merena "Joie" (Welle) Stroeing
Henry & Anna Nathe Stroeing
Anton & Apollonia Schoenberg Welle
In addition to the 4 sir names above, the other last names in my family tree are Ortmann and Gerads.
I frequently visit the 3 cemeteries in Melrose: St. Mary's (formerly St. Boniface), St. Patrick's and the town's oldest graveyard, Oak Hill Cemetery (formerly known as Melrose Burial Grounds)
I also frequently visit the cemeteries in the communities surrounding Melrose: Greenwald, Meire Grove, Spring Hill, New Munich, St. Martin, Lake Henry, Richmond, St. Cloud and others in Stearns County.
I try to take photos of the gravestone in the cemeteries above if a photo request has been submitted.
UPDATE ON MELROSE CEMETERIES PROJECT
The three cemeteries in my hometown of Melrose, Stearns County, Minnesota are:
- Oak Hill Cemetery
- St. Patrick's Cemetery
- St. Mary's Cemetery (formerly St. Boniface)
I have documented these three cemeteries by creating Find A Grave burial records for every individual buried in the three cemeteries through 2011.
In addition to the burial records, gravestone photos have been posted. Links to the spouse, parents and children continue to be added if the genealogy connection is known.
St. Patrick's Cemetery - completed February 2011
Oak Hill Cemetery - completed March 2011
St. Mary's Cemetery - completed March 2012
TRANSFERS: If I created a burial record for your relative (direct line and within 4 generations), and the individual is not a relative of mine, you can request a transfer of ownership of the burial record by emailing me.
My preference is to click the "Edit" tab in the upper right corner of the memorial record. Then click the "Suggest a Correction" link.
Please include the following in your transfer request email:
- your first, last name & Find A Grave member ID
- the first last name on the burial record
- the burial record number
- your relationship to the individual
Please allow a generous amount of time for processing your request.
NOTE: Please do not blindly transfer your records to me. Disposing your records on other Find A Grave contributors is disrespectful to both the deceased and the contributor.

|Bradley Pierson||Emmanuel Grove Cemetery, Lake Henry|
I was wondering if you have any information about the Emmanuel Grove Cemetery in Lake Henry, Minnesota. I have at least three ancestors buried there, Wilhelm, Augusta and John Schmidt. You have taken photos of Wilhelms and Augustas headstones there, any maybe by chance you have also taken John's? I was wondering since you photographed so much there, if you know where the sexton record might be held for that cemetery.
Thanks so much for taking the photos you have! I never would have seen them if you hadn't don it!
|Sheila S||Henry Rohling|
Thank you for adding the obituary of my Great Great Uncle Henry Rohling. I really appreciate it!
Thanks, Sheila S

I just wanted to give you some burial information for one of your memorials, Lloyd Stroeing (1928-2014). I just happened to be doing some browsing and researching and happened to find that he is at Fort Snelling cemetery in Minneapolis, section 37 space 191. I thought you would want to know to update your records. Hope you are enjoying the findagrave web site!
I have uploaded photos for John Welz: if he is part of your family, let me know. I would be happy to transfer his memorial.
Also, the memorial for Ida Welz.

|Carmen Gardiner||William C Taylor|
Thanks for the link to the information on William Taylor!
Oakland Cemetery, where he is buried, was once known as the GAR cemetery for all the veterans that are buried there. Sylvia Townsend was a nurse who followed her husband Alfred to the war.
There are also some soldiers buried there who died in the Indian Wars, and were probably first buried in a cemetery in town that no longer exists and were moved to Oakland. Young Philo has a sad story:
I might just have to learn how to get "my" veterans registered on SUV!
Thanks for your work. I grew up in Sauk Center, but now live near Minneapolis and don't get back often enough!
|Charlotte johnson||Thank You|
I wanted to thank you for what you do. I don't know my dads side that well which make the effort of putting a family tree together rather difficult, and i don't live in the county. you have helped me find my great- grandparents and several family members after that. it helps me feel close to them and closer because of the pictures you added up as well. Thank you So much :)

|Peter Joseph ("PJ") Braun||Danke Shoen for "photo work" on Bernice Braun memorial|
Quincy... thanks so much for both taking the photo of the new/replacement memorial stone. I really do appreciate the collaboration/support in the on-going process of documenting family members. Namaste, "PJ"
Might be easier for you to make those corrections...have transferred all of the "Dierkhissing" memorials" to you...did delete the Herbert Dierkhissing memorial...
There is a grave directory posted at the cemetery..that is where I took my info....and of course the gravestones...
If there are any other memorials you'd like transferred...just let me know...
