I started out here on this site many years ago, and entered a few ancestors. Then returned a couple of years later, added more ancestors and decided to try and contribute to the site by photographing at a local cemetery. After returning to my home state some years ago I became more active in my endeavors. My ancestors are mostly from Ohio and Pennsylvania, and I have tried to enter as many ancestors, relatives and friends that I can find resting places for. |
I am also currently working on recording cemeteries in my home area, as well as those in Blair Co, Pa., my area of interest. My particular passion is recording stones that are 'trying hard to soon become unreadable'.
I try to put as much application into stranger's graves as I would those of my own family, as I consider this a labor of love.
I am a "no-dispositions-unknown" contributor.
Please note - I try to act on SACs within 72 hours. If I do not respond within a week, feel free to resend; I may have missed it. I will not make links, however, to burial unknowns.
In the past I have been very liberal with transfers, including many out-of-guidelines transfers. I loved turning memorials over to family.
Sadly however, having been 'burned' a number of times recently, I am rethinking that policy. Most of the memorials I have happily transferred over have had not one iota of additional information added by the transferee, aside from links, often times to 'burial unknowns.' When things ARE added, they are frequently cut and paste entries from Ancestry or FamilySearch indices, making the memorial unattractive and about about as personable as a baseball score card. Often too, the transferees get bored and wander away from the site, abandoning their memorials and when I find new info to add they never reply.
If you request an out-of-guidelines transfer, I will review your current memorials to see if you are good stewards of them, and base my decision on that. I am very happy to add additional information to 'flesh-out' existing memorials, and if you work with me on that I may later reconsider a transfer that I did not initially grant.

How did you find this so quick!! THANK YOU!! I found the article about foul play but not the obituary! I live really close to Mt. Olivet, I'll have to go and ask where he's buried to get a photo of the tombstone! :)
|Laura Kessler Hershey||RE: Estella Heath|
Thank you for updating her memorial! I'll have to see if I can find any other information on her first husband and exactly how he died. You have my curiosity now! Thank you for your research! Take Care!! Laura Hershey

Looked harder and saw the spelling as you sent, and have updated.

I was wondering where you got the info on Mathias Nickola and Magdalena Filer, and if there might be more info where that came from. I have a lot of info on Magdalena and her family, but not so much on Mathias. I'd definitely be interested in any info you might have.

Thank you for the corrections and additions to the graves in Mt Hope cemetery. Would love to know where you got this information. I have many more headstones that I am having trouble with - some hard to read some in a foreign language

Thank you so much for setting up the memorial for Pvt Johan Michael Hileman.
However, the information included seems conflicted, as he is named as being his own son, and married to his own mother, and the listed children at the top are not the same as those at the bottom.

Good Morning - LTC Morgan's plane went down on Jan 26, 1967. At that time no remains were found. His body was recovered on Aug 30, 1976. It took an additional 20 years to bring his remains back to the United States! I didn't want to assume that he perished in Aug 1976 so I used the date when his body was recovered. I am not sure which date would be correct on this. I have seen it added both ways to our soldiers missing in action. I do appreciate you letting me know. Take care - Cindy
