Bio and Links
Bio Photo Ever since I was very young, I've picked and pawed through old cemeteries. I love history and
cemeteries are great history lessons. Here in the Akron, Ohio area there are many old cemeteries, Glendale being one of the oldest. Many notable figures of history now rest at Glendale and I have listed hundreds of them here on Find A Grave. The famous include: early industrialists, politicians, musicians, entertainers, etc. I have also listed thousands of the "common" people from this area. Also, I have covered some other areas around Akron such as: Cuyahoga Falls, Tallmadge, Mogadore, Hudson, Ellet, Barberton and Northampton Township. I will be listing other cemeteries and areas soon.

TRANSFERS > In most cases, I do not do transfers for these reasons: People ask for a transfer to add more infomation. But when I check back in a year or so, nothing has been added. Also, I find that many people get onto Find A Grave and "play around" with it for a few months and then lose interest and go on to something else. Then when I find additional information to add to a memorial that I had transfered to them, I e-mail it and never get a response and it's never added. So basically, I'm done playing games with these people.

If you have a relative that you'd like tranfered, e-mail me. I may do it. But in the future if I find more info for the memorial, I expect you to work with me and add it. If you don't want to do that, then leave the memorial in my care so it will be updated as more info comes my way. If this sounds harsh, I'm sorry, but I've had a lot of these people since I've started.

Recently I have aquired Akron City Directories from 1859 to 1969. I have begun to add these to my listings. They are helpfull as they show us the history of Akron as well as each person's occupation and home address. They help to fill in the puzzles.

Hello,

I would very much appreciate permission to use the portrait you've posted on Cadwallader Washburn's memorial, on his profile at WikiTree.

Please let me know right away, if you have any objection.

Thank you for your time,
Dan

RE: William Guthrie ~
Thanks for your patience, Ed. Now, if I could understand the names of the parents reflected on William's page it would complete my picture to this point. Thanks again.

RE: Jane Guthrie ~
Thank you Mr. Ed. John (Jack) is linked to his mother but not to his father (5218230). The father's page also reflects William (5212654). The last para of William's text appears contradictory, in that it refers to James and Jeanette Wilson Guthrie. I can't determine where to place them. I can understand William marrying his cousin, and William is linked to John, but not to Jane. Is there an explanation? Thank you.

Guthrie Line
Checking pages for John Guthrie (5218230), wife Jane Reed (5215231) and their son John (5225048). Are Jane Reed Guthrie and Mary Jane Reed Guthrie the same person? Would it not be appropriate to link Jane with son John? I do not have the experience you have with these subjects, but would appreciate a response. Thank you. Fred S. Delp

RE: Charles R. Metzler, #119333772
Mr. Ed,

Thank you very much for the quick response. The monument is clearly a memorial. It's a commercial design and definitely not from the VA. It would be interesting to know when it was erected. Charles died at Veterans Work Program Camp 5, Lower Matecumbe Key, FL, on Sep 2, 1935. His body was positively identified by fingerprints and cremated on Sep 7, 1935 at Snake Creek on Plantation Key, FL. The ashes from the various cremation sites were collected in 1937 and buried in a crypt built on the site of the Florida Keys Memorial in Islamorada, FL. At least 167 veterans are buried there. Their names were never inscribed. I'm working with the village manager on a project to place VA grave markers for all the vets. When completed it should be something to see. I'll post photos of the markers on each Find A Grave memorial.

Charles Reid Metzlar, #119333772
Curious about your source regarding Metzlar's burial in Akron, OH. Contemporary Veterans Affairs Administration (VA) records state he was cremated at Snake Creek, Florida on September 7, 1935, Body Number 47-C. There is also a discrepancy on his middle name: VA records shows "Reed". Do you have a photo of his grave?

Elizabeth Williamson Virden Bogard #116828967
Hi Mr. Ed,

We see you have Elizabeth Williamson Virden Bogard listed as a wife to Jesse M Bogard (2nd husband).

We're hoping you may hold the information we seek.

Would you happen to know the names of Jesse's and Elizabeth's children; and have the source information to establish that?

Would you happen to know the names of Jesse's parents???

Thank you,

Vickie Smejkal
