Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Robert C. Johnston, Jr. I live in Wetumpka, AL and have been researching and documenting my family tree for about 13 years. I have proven my lineage for Sons of American Revolution and Sons of Confederate Veterans. I love researching in courthouses and walking old cemeteries, taking photos and transcribing tombstone inscriptions. I also love hunting down and photographing my ancestor's old homesteads across GA, AL, and MS.

My Father's lines are all from MI, OH, and RI. Many of my Mother's lines can be traced back to 17th Century Virginia. My primary maternal surnames I'm researching are WHITE, OLIVER, NEWMAN, MCCOLLUM, WIMBISH, ALLEN, SHELTON, GOSS, CARTER, WILLIAMSON, HEARD, HAMLET, CORNELIUS, CARLISLE and GILLILAND, mostly migrating from VA>GA>AL>MS. My paternal surnames I'm researching are Johnston, Francis, Wilson, Beckwith, Eddy, Arnold, Westcott, and Woodhead.

Dear Ancestor,
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone,
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist.
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and love.

RE: Daniel Easterwood
Try this link for information about Richard and Julia. There is more information about the Hamlets than the Easterwoods.

Hope this helps.

Dear Robert, I had an ancestor in the 34th and I know many of the 34th are buried in Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta. Plus several thousand UNKNOWNS are there... we have definite reasons to believe my ancestor is among them: William Thomas Guthrie 34th Ala co'y D.

I have a memorial page for hin on Find a Grave too.

Thanks for all you do ,

Viola Gammon
Just linked her memorial with Claude's memorial. I had first used number shown in the message on my profile page & it was for Joseph Chapman. Then I checked my email & the number there led to Viola's memorial.
