THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

|Melanie Branham||Entries where burial is unknown|
I saw that you were the contributor for a person where their burial was unknown (my great-grandfather # 62985826). I've looked in the Help section & can't find how to do this myself. I'd like to add what info I have for some deceased family even though I don't know where they are buried & be able to link them to their spouses, children, etc. I found one option, but it said you had to add the burial info within 30 days of creating the entry. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
|Mary Moeller||Mary Elizabeth Moeller|
Debbie, I believe the daughter (Mary Elizabeth Moeller) of John Herman Moeller and Catherine Willming, Sec 8 Lot 12 has a stone that was moved to that same Sec 8 Lot 12. The rest of the Family have stones their too, that is ,Family of John and Catherine Moeller. My husband's Family is buried right next to this Family of Moeller's. I have been trying to make a connection between the 2 Families.
My husband's family is John Francis and Catherine (Knapmeier) Moeller.
|John Blakemore Sellers||Joshua Leathers - Highland Cemetery|
An individual posted on the internet that Joshua was relocated from the Beechwood Farm to Highland bases on a conversation with the cemetery, as cited in the web page. The cemetery just told me they do not have him listed in their computer.
However, I have been through this before when trying to find Benjamin and Thomas. They initially told me they did not have them in their records. After a couple more attempts, they told me they were there and sent me a plot maps identifying where they were buried, in unmarked graves. I can email you the two Leathers family plot maps as well as the Casey family plot map.

I'm pretty sure it's Nofsinger. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate between an f and an s on a weathered grave marker. Let me know what you think.
