Please realize duplicates and errors are unfortunate accidents and can and will be corrected with your amiable, kind and helpful assistance. If you have a correction, please send me a courteous message, the error wasn't made on purpose. It's a mistake, it can and will be rectified. (please don't be rude) As the saying goes, "If you're not making mistakes you're not doing anything". If you provide me the number of a memorial that I have duplicated I will promptly delete mine. I make mistakes but:
~~~I never intentionally duplicate a memorial.~~~
Please use the edit tab function (Suggest a Correction) for requests for additions, updates and corrections. It does prevent additional errors. I encourage updates, additions and corrections. I try my best to make corrections, additions and transfers in a timely fashion. I hope to never manage so many memorials that I can't do that.
Please help me process your edit requests by sending me a personal email to alert me that you have sent through a correction if you see that it has been a few days and the changes did not take place. With the new system there are no notices sent to the contributors that there are edits waiting to take place and we usually have to randomly stumble across them, or check daily.
If you want to manage your relative's memorial, please let me know and I will be glad to individually transfer it to you (except my own relatives). Please let me know how they are related. I would very much like to have each memorial managed by a caring relative. I'm not doing this to see how many memorials I can accumulate and manage. I do this because I enjoy doing something, in my own small way, that I feel shows respect for those that have gone before me.
If I have uploaded a photograph you would like to copy, feel free to copy it. I give those photographs as a gift to the departed.
Don't be hesitant about adding photos, forms, certificates etc. to memorials I've created, even if others may consider them tacky, as long as they tell the person's story, I encourage adding them to mine.
A Visit to the Gravesite
Your Tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and dates are chiseled here,
On polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
Though it is too late to mourn.
You do not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you,
In flesh, in blood, and bone.
The place you filled so many years ago,
I wonder if you could have known,
Would spread among the ones you left
In all the seeds you've sown.
I wonder if you lived and loved?
I wonder if you ever knew?
That someday I would find you in this spot,
And come to visit you?
"There is no death, daughter. People die only when we forget them,' my mother explained shortly before she left me. 'If you can remember me, I will be with you always."
|Stuart Smith||RE: Wetherell|
Thank you very much.
|Rebecca Hough-Curry||John Griggs|
My great grandmother was Nancy Francis, daughter of his first marriage. I am thrilled to actually see a picture of my great great grandfather and to read his bio. Nancy's first marriage was to Frank Underwood which produced my grandmother Cleo who married Ernest Hough and moved here to Michigan. Cleo and Ernest had my dad James Hough. Since retiring last year I have been researching the family trees and finding a picture is a very rare occurrence. Thank you for putting a face to the name.
Thank you so very much for the transferring his memorial to me! Also, thank you for taking time from your schedule to take pictures of markers and posting them on find a grave.
Thanks for doing her. She was one of my teacers in high school at Harrisburg, MO. I think her family was on the edge of the elite in Columbia, MO. Much of the OLD money is buried in Columbia Cemetery on Broadway. As well as a few ne'er do wells.
|J Cottingham||RE: Johnsons|
Thanks, Ron. Not sure how this works, but the Johnsons were my maternal grandparents. i will be honored to look after them.
Are you a relation?
|Anna Jaech||Missouri Penitentiary Records|
Ron: Because I volunteer to do transcriptions online for the Secretary of State (1965 death certs) I received a note that the penitentiary records are available. Just Google Missouri Penitentiary Archives. What criminals I can remember were not there :-)
This is a nice little contribution to make....
Ron, I've been shaking the family tree for over 40 years. Love this stuff.
I have never had the emptional tug, a warmth, from just looking at a photo of someone I've never met nor will. Permelia Bullard is the first and only. Thank you for posting that photo of her. Something stretched across the decades and thru the electronic screen and touched my heart.
