I have always been intrigued with the rich history found in cemeteries. My mom always took me (since I was a very small child) with her to put flowers on family members' graves and I suppose that started my love of cemeteries. I am a licensed funeral director/embalmer in MO and IL. I have personally photographed all of the markers at Oak Hill in Kirkwood and am now re-walking each garden to catch any that may have been missed or covered as well. I am using an interment spread sheet that I made for each garden made from the interment books. I have rewalked the following gardens in case you are still looking for a marker: All Public Lots, Eternal Love, Faith, Missouri, Riverview,Hope, Prayer,Dogwood, Oaks, Greentree, Companion, Memory, and Light have been checked and rewalked. I still have the following gardens to verify: Kirkwood and Peace. This should verify location and if someone really does not have a marker. I am trying to list under the inscription section if there is no marker. |
I have high numbers because I enjoy spending time in the boneyards with my camera, not because I am a records hoarder! This being said...
*Please note, I will not link family members I have no connection to personally. I don't want to assume and possibly place inaccurate information as fact. If you send me a request to link, I will transfer the record to you so don't be surprised!
*Please ask my permission before using my photos. I am happy to let you use them for ancestry purposes.

Could you please give me a little more info? I would need the name, and the cemetery I added the names from. I don't show any Lenox family members in the list of people I have added. Was the last name different? I am not related to the Lenox family. Thanks--
|sally smith||RE: Oak Hill Request|
Your reply has added so much to my Fourth of July Celebration. Have been working on these ancestors for years. My husband and I visited ( am sure that it was Oak Hill cemetery some years ago.)
I had 2 aunts who were Daughters' of Charity, residing at the Mother House, 7800 Natural Bridge, St.Louis. One of them tried to help me with research on Emma Irene Rousseau Hite McLagan. Am sure we made photos of the McLagan marker but since displacement by Katrina have no idea where they might be. When we visited the office, they gave us a large card. if only I could scan it, I would send it to you. Will be glad to send by snail mail if this will help.
Card says lot owner is McLagan, Elizabeth (deceased). Name of interred reads:
1904 JAn 6 #1 McLagan, Thos. E.age 48 #1550
1911 Apr 17 #2 McLagan, Elizabeth age 81 #2326
1931 Aug 28 # 3 McLagan, Irene age 88 # 5117
Card reads LOT No. S 1/2 5
Sec. # 30 - B
I am descended from Emma I. and first husband , George Dudley Hite, married in New Orleans, la. when E.I. was only 15. They had 2 sons. My ancestor is Claiborne McIntosh Hite, and I have his birth record with both of them named as parents. At some point, the marriage fell apart, and Emma Irene departed. Legend says she took off for Texas. Family knew she ended up in St.Louis and married McLagan. She was older than he and outlived him by many years. I do not have a divorce record for them, meaning Emma Irene and George Dudley. I do have news article re: her death and service from Ambruster Undertaking Estb. at 4224 Manchester Ave.
Would love to engage you for checking with cemetary records and the grave location. The big card that they gave me may be the cemetery record. Somewhere I read a plot name: Dogwood.
I could go on and on. Would love to hear from you. I also have email, snailmail, and telephone and would be overjoyed to engage you in the location and photography of the grave. She and McLagan may be buried with the same marker, back to back.

Mr. Plotz I assume. Oh yes. He gets frustrated where the records say people are sometimes and I know he has gotten a couple markers in the past. The owner of Friedens is not all that helpful at all. He lives out of state and I have only spoken to him a couple times. I have his e-mail too and he is not good at even getting with me there too. This is not a great suggestion but if he knows what family lots they should be in and I am sure he will tell you. I would suggest just placing them without the cemeteries assistance. I know the last couple he got were small angled upright type and other than weight and some guidance, he should be there and just place them. You hardly ever see anyone there. Lake Charles workers does his few burials I believe. Some relation there. Even the grass cutters are hired out.

I received this request for Mount Hope. I responded and said that I would try, but due to the status of the cemetery, it would be difficult. I'm sure she would appreciate any suggestions or help
# 115494468 & # 115494468
I would love to have pictures of my Aunt and Uncle, Bonnie Lee Crowell Carter her Find A Grave Memorial# is 115494468, & Vincent "Vince" Carter, whose Find A Grave Memorial# is 115494682. I have had a request in for over a year and I even made a trip up there this summer but had no luck at getting them. At the time I was there the cemetery office was closed due to water leakage, I was told, and they couldn't get inside to the files. The young lady gave me a phone number to call back and told me she would get me a picture as soon as she was able. The phone number is no longer in service.
I would appreciate so much if you could do this for me. I will be forever grateful.

Hope this finds you well. Thank you so much for taking the photo of my grandmothers headstone! I really appreciate it.
Through my college, our family used to visit these graves at Memorial Day. I would occasionally visit the graves while traveling on business in St. Louis. Now, I have not been there for at least a dozen years.
Thanks again from Chicagoland!

Thank you so much for sending the Walker family over to me. I am still missing their daughter Maria Florian #66813465. You sent me a Marcia Florian, a child buried with her mother, but do not know if she is buried with Maria or another Florian.
Again thank you.

Hi Embalmu2, thank you very much for the photo of Charles J Stephens' Gravestone. I hope you don't mind, but I am going to put in another Photo Request for his Gravestone. Could you please clean off the lower left hand corner where his birth date is at, so we can see his full birth date. Also, do you have his Burial Plot location?
Thank you very much for your time, Jerry
|Theresa ||Mary Jane Fish|
Could you please transfer Mary Jane Fish #66813463 to me so I can add her and her info to our family.
