I discovered Find a Grave by accident soon after the death of our precious daughter, Marjorie. She was my first entry. I have added family members, friends, and others that I have no connection with but simply wanted to add them on these pages. I will have more of my family entered in the future. My wife and I are retired and we love it! I love riding the back-roads on my Harley and can't seem to ride past an old cemetery.....I love walking through them and find peace and quiet in them. Thanks so much to everyone that has placed notes, tokens, and have sponsored my memorials. God bless you all. |

|Anne Beckman||RE: ~HALLOWEEN and LEFT OVER GOODIES~|
HAPPY WINTER! I pray you are keeping warm!
I must tell you: during the last weekend of
January, I went on something I'd never thought
I'd go on: a religious retreat! Since November,
I had been thinking of going on this. It is done
by our parish. It is called CHRP: An acronym for
Christ Renews His Parish. My husband Bill went on
them, but they were NOT for me. I was trying to
get my life to go FORWARD, not talk about things
that happened to me, in the past. (Yes, they
were faith-building, but they HURT to talk
about. That is a BIG part of any religious
retreat: sharing one's faith, through telling all
about the way Christ has helped you with your
difficulties, during life. It is defined as a
testimonial. I was LOATH to that, until the
end of 2015: I did not know the other women my
age in our parish and was LONELY! I prayed a lot
about it. Finally, when I made a "find a grave"
prayer to The Virgin Mary, the glorious new
graphic I was using, which portrays her as
the Queen of Heaven (just one of the many titles
the Catholic church has for her) with a big,
beautiful, gold crown, said, "COME TO ME!"
As soon as I walked into the church that Saturday
morning, I KNEW I'd made the right decision!
All the ladies were so welcoming and did so much
for us! (Those who were leading, and those who
were just helping.) YES, it was DRAINING to
talk about my life, BUT it is always a good way
to get the yuck out. WOW, when I heard of other
women's problems, I thought, "Mine are not that
much!" (Remember the story of everyone taking
their problems, standing on a hill, and trying
to catch someone else's, as they roll the problems
down the hill...only to realize that other
person's problem is WORSE, so they go looking for
their own, to keep as long as they live?) There
was SUCH a feeling of friendship, that I've been
very hungry for! I have made 30 new pals!
We have CHRP Evenings once a month: being back
with my buddies was WONDERFUL! The next one is
on the 17th. CAN'T WAIT! One little problem:
the FOOD!!! OH MY LORD, did we eat WELL!!!
Every meal was a FEAST! I knew it would be,
from the speech a woman made, during Mass, years
ago, about her CHRP experience. She said, "We
ate like queens!" Bill, bless his soul, told me
"Don't worry about your weight, this time."
I didn't! No out of control pigging out, and I
did not eat dessert, but I CERTAINLY enjoyed it,
and miss it! BACK TO THE MEANINGFUL PART: :)
As one does, during a retreat, (I knew this, as
I went to my Catholic high school's Senior
Retreat), every person receives supportive letters
from family and friends! Also, from those who
have been on CHRP retreats. WELL, did I ever
get A LOT!!! All the family knew, of course, so
I got ones from them. Also from my very dear
friend Yopi, who has shared the cancer experience
with me. Sooo many women from church who know
full well of my bipolar disorder and cancer
struggles, whether they are in CHRP or are only
members of our parish, wrote me wonderful letters.
Finally, our parish's first grade class made
the most darling and meaningful cards for us,
using construction paper and crayons. WOW...
I received so many, I still had 5 to read, by
the time the next activity began! Oh, yes...
Bill, (As I STRONGLY suggested, LOL!) sent me
FLOWERS! Two red roses, with baby's breath!
Only one other woman, I think, received the same
from her husband...I AM BLESSED! Did I nearly
CRY while all this was given to me? YES!!!
I have long NEEDED it, as you must know, for
2014 and especially 2015 were so hard. Yes, it was
VERY tiring for me...EXHAUSTING!!! However, my
SPIRIT was SO RENEWED!!! I was snapping at Bill
to just let me get into my nightie and get into
bed, by the time it ended and I got home (which
was only about 4pm!) but then I immediately let
him know how WONDERFUL it was for me!
2016 has been a GOOD year, so far! As Bill put
on the card that came with the flowers, "Those
who sow in tears, shall reap in joy." PSALM 126.
I am bitterly disappointed that we don't have the
$$$ to go on a cruise for our 25th wedding
anniversary, but if we just don't have any
problems this year, that would be a GREAT gift
from God! For Valentine's Day, we're having a
romantic dinner at home. I'm sure I'm getting
red roses again :) and a beautiful box of
Russell Stovers chocolates. (I love the pretty
boxes more than the chocolate! I've kept some of
them, to decorate with.)
A VALENTINE FOR YOU: THANKS FOR BEING SUCH A
GOOD FRIEND! TAKE CARE! ANNE
