Bio

I have been researching my family history for the last 47 years. I'm a proud native Texan and have a lot of roots in the Lone Star state. I also have deep roots in the City of New Orleans.

I have documented nearly 41,000 ancestors and descendants in compiling my family genealogy. I have researched and found ancestors who served during the French and Indian Wars, Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican-American War, Civil War, World War I/II, and Vietnam,. I even have two great-great-grandfathers who served as Frontier Battalion Texas Rangers in the 1880s.

I also teach genealogy classes at a local college, lecture at various local civic groups and schools, and write a syndicated genealogy newspaper column. I research cemeteries and fill photo requests here on FAG as time permits in the Tri-State area (northern Georgia, western North Carolina, and eastern Tennessee). I also specialize in estate/probate genealogy research to assist law firms in locating the heirs of deceased individuals for local probate courts.

I retired from the U.S. Navy in 1993 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer after 23 years of active duty service in both the surface and aviation communities. So I have a keen interest in documenting military service veterans and their final resting places.

If I have a memorial posted for one of your ancestors (not distant cousins, etc) and they are not any of my ancestors, I'm more than happy to transfer management of their Find A Grave memorial to you. Just contact me or email me directly at the address familyhistorian at frontier dot com.
