I grew up in Jackson Co., MI on the northside of town. Most of my grandmother's (on my mom's side) descendents orignally settled in that area. The Smith, Hatton and Barnes families came from England to NY and then eventually settled in the Rives Jct/Tompkins area. The Oesterle (Frey and Ziefle) family came from Germany to NY and settled in Chelsea, MI; while the Stull (Lutz, Cover & Spayde) family came from Germany >PA >OH and then settled in MI. |
Most of my grandfather's (on my mom's side) descendents remained in AR, but my grandpa along with his parents (Ratliff) and siblings migrated to MI in the 1930's; his Uncle Grace's family moved there as well. Grandpa's descendents migrated from TN >NC >MO and then into Arkansas prior to the Civil War (Campbell, Brown, Lundy, Kerr & Underwood).
My father's side of the family originally came from England. The Comstock's, (Clarke, Snyder, Hilliard, Thorpe, Holmes, Jones, Daniel & Elderkin) were some of the first to settle in Plymouth colony, MA. They then migrated to CT/RI/NY before making their way to the Parma/Springport area of Jackson County, MI. They were among some of the first families to live in MI.
Find-A-Grave does a great job. It has been my privilege to contribute information or photos when I can. I've contributed family information as well as adding memorials & photos locally from the Warsaw, Kosciusko Co., IN area where I currently live. However, it has appeared that Warsaw is well covered by volunteers, so I have branched out to the surrounding county of Wabash and will likely visit Whitley & Marshall counties in the future.

Thanks for the tip Dawn. I will follow your suggestions!
|Mike Evans||Pictures of Byron C. Kennedy|
I appreciate the interest you have taken in posting the pictures on my Uncle Byron Kennedy's "Find A Grave" site. However with the new pictures (which are very similar to the first one you posted) there are now 5 photos on the site, the max.allowed unless I want to be a sponsor. I have an obit for Byron that I save when he passed in 1989 that I would like to post. Would you kindly remove one of the Butler pictures so that I may post the obituary? Thanks.
PS: If you go to the patriarch and matriarch's site (Charles O. and Emma Kennedy), you will see a picture of the children from the early 1920's including my handsome Uncle Byron). I need to get my mother onto the "Memories" link. Her name is Ruby Kennedy Evans and she is buried in No. Manchester (Oaklawn?) along with my dad, Charles H. Evans.

It has been some time since I accessed "Find a Grave" and my Kennedy ancestors. Thanks for posting the picture of my uncle Byron C. Kennedy. Where did you find it? I was not aware that he even attended Butler U. I posted a picture I had of him and some information. I am also going to check his obituary and make sure the info and dates are accurate, Thanks again.

|Bill||Great great Grandpa Solomon Stull|
Hello, I am William Miller I was born in St. Johns Michigan. My mother Alice Miller was the daughter of Frank Stull son of Samuel. Samuel was the son of Solomon Stull. I have quite a bit on the Stull, Speyde family. I ran into Dawn a couple of years ago by email but was too busy to get back to her. My kids and other family members wants to know more about the family. Maybe we can trade information? I have what I think is the only photo of Solomon and other photos that are not identified. Maybe we can start with Alice. My mother was named after her Aunt Alice who supposedly lived in Ontario, Canada. This stuff gets kind of confusing for me. If any of the family members wants to contact me, please do so. Just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org Take care Bill

Who do I contact to get the stone updated?
|ol'mom||Gwendolyn Pike Harting's husband|
Her # is 32301376 and she is in Oswego Cemetery. I'm hoping you can help me find out if her husband is now with her. His name: Clayton Byron "C. Byron" Harting, b. 14 Dec 1911; d. 10 Aug 2011. An unsourced note on ancestry.com has Oswego Cemetery as his burial place, which makes sense since his wife is there. I have not been able to find an obit for further verification. He remarried in 1981 to Mary Elizabeth Plumb. Suggestions? Thanks. Donna
