William Hollis
James MacKensie Dorris Paulding County
Hi,

A couple of months ago you posted an update to this memorial - do you have any knowledge of this family?
I am trying to find the gravesite of James's bro-in-law, Milton Davis. Milton married the sister of James (Elizabeth Dorris).

Milton would be my 2nd great grandfather.

Also, do you have any contacts at the Sweetwater Church? Their cemetery is really in need of maintenance before these graves are completely destroyed and covered up.

Thank you.

RE: Americus E. Walker
Cindy,

I got the full name from two sources 1) in the "Eli Everett & Caroline Elizabeth Hartsfield" entry in the book First Families of Newton County, Georgia compiled by the Genealogical Society of Henry and Clayton counties and 2) on a typed family group sheet that my great aunt Trubie Walker Dodson put together.

Americus Walker is my great grandfather George Washington Walker's brother. My line is as follows:

Susan Potts McDonald
Calvin William Potts (father)
Emma Amanda Walker (grandmother)
George Washington Walker (great grandfather)
Elisha Walker (gg-grandfather)
Elijah Walker (ggg-grandfather)

Would be happy to share any info I have with you.

Best,
Susan

I posted a photo to your memorial for this gentleman. He is buried in Lot 178 at Old City, Confederate Section. This area is also known as the common grave area. He was buried in a grave by himself, but the large marker with all of the soldiers names in this section is thought to have been placed to save money sometime back in the early 1900s. This section is very well taken care of and nicely landscaped.

Cindy, I really appreciate your very kind and thoughtful words, the nicest I have heard in a long time. If only others had an inkling in their heart of the love you have in yours, it would truly be a remarkable world in which we live. God Bless You!
