A BAG OF TOOLS
"Isn't it strange That princes and kings, And clowns that caper In sawdust rings, And common people Like you and me Are builders for all Eternity? Each is given A bag of tools A shapeless mass, A book of rules; And each must make Ere life is flown -- A stumbling block Or a stepping stone."

The years I've worn you, warm upon my shoulder have led us here -- surprised to find us older.
And there was nothing left to do today but hold you close and help you on your way.
Be still, my little cat, be well, be free. I know you're somewhere new and loving me.

 | RE: Hannah Quiett Donnell I don't know the photographer, but if any graves are to be recorded, they have to be photographed before the end of April because it becomes a snake infested obstacle course any later than that. So you get pictures after the snow and rain, and before the snakes and ticks. Nice, huh. Also the undergrowth obscures everything pretty thoroughly during the summer.

 | RE: Hannah Quiett Donnell It is the same person, and there are a couple of possibilities. Her husband died a number of years after her, and had already moved to Indiana when he passed away. It is very likely that their children had her name inscribed on the family stone to memorialize their mother.
It is highly unlikely that after thirty years interred they would have dug her up and moved her body from her resting place, which is in a sadly disappearing cemetery in Kentucky. Fortunately, the old stone survives.
You may want to see if you can embed a link in the biography section on one of the memorial pages to link her actual burial plot to her memorial in the place where her husband is buried. That will save some future confusion.
This is a really neat thing to find, and rather nice to know that she is remembered in a better place than the spot where she was buried which is rapidly reverting to woods.
Best wishes,

 | Greenup Quiett I added your information. I wish I could read more of the caption--cemeteries like that one are quite difficult to photograph. I wouldn't doubt that very few that I photographed then are still there now. The cemetery is ruined and very nearly lost.Added by Kocart on May 05, 2013 3:12 PM | | | Les C
 | RE: Nevada Jennings Georgia if you are doing a lot in Humboldt county you might find this book useful if you don't have it; http://archive.org/details/historyofhumbold00irvi
I have quite a bit more on that family and of course extensive information on my relatives in the county I would be happy to share with you. I won't say all my information is gospel since I put a lot of stuff together from Census info and miscellaneous clues like the web site for the Myers Resort. I left a message on their web site yesterday asking if they had access to more details about the family. I doubt that they have much but you never know they might be tickled to hear from someone with a family connection. I also messaged my niece who lives in Eureka that she and her husband might enjoy visiting a bit of family history even if it is obscure.
My email is opera_70@yahoo.com if you want to contact me directly I currently only have about 3 pages on the descendants of Elias but expect to have more by the end of my morning session.Added by Les C on Apr 28, 2013 12:26 PM | | | janet donner

 | re: Margaret Holmes... Hi Georgia...
I don't think they are the same person... the book I have says aged 70 years, but that could be wrong.
You can call the Rectory at (913) 367-0671 and ask about Margaret.
I don't do much up there so I'm not in contact with them... another contributor (or 2) do more there than I do (I just uploaded the original list to start).
Have a great weekend :)
