My "home place" is St. Clair County, Michigan, particularly the St. Clair River District, where my families have lived since 1835. It has been my privilege to have served with both the East China Historical Commission and the St. Clair Historical Commission.|
Findagrave is a wonderful resource to historians, genealogists and families. In the interest of accuracy, if you have an edit for any of my entries, please use "any other corrections or additions" to add your source material for the additions/changes. That way, we can all work together so that those that have gone before us will have their information entered correctly.
Please feel free to use any of my photographs; a "taken by Suzanne" note would be appreciated.
I love walking through old cemeteries and have enjoyed preserving in photographs the old forgotten and crumbling, broken stones. The children's stones with the little lambs particularly touch my heart. Lovely too, are the pictorial spiritual testimonies carved in stone that adorn many of the old graves, pointing to the life to come, the life that knows no death.
"Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die." John 11:25

We have spoken/e-mailed before.
My ggg grandfather is Peter Patterson. He is a Civil War Veteran buried in Hillside Cemetery in St. Clair. You are managing his grave on Find A Grave. His mother's name on his death certificate was incorrect. Her name was Felicity Pineau dite Laperle (French) or the English version is Phyllis Laperle. I submitted an edit re his birth date which is October 10, 1839 but was not allowed to for his mother's name.
|Lori Finto||James V. MItchell family|
Hi Suzanne, I'm Lori Mitchell Finto--we met about 3 years back on your front porch! I have just started to revisit the Mitchell family and found a questionable link to James Mitchell (wife Susan Kelly.) I was searching on FamilySearch.org and found him linked to Susan Kelly, but the birth years were off. The rest of the info looks correct. It links this James to parents James Madison Mitchell 1770 and Sarah Foster 1779, but with no sources for these two possible parents. I was wondering if you have been able to go any farther back on the James Mitchell side. I know when we last spoke we all had hit a road block. Also, can you tell me anything about the legitimacy of FamilySearch? The one thing you told me that always sticks in the back of my mind is to be very careful with Ancestry members' info because one mistake can be copied and added by many, making it appear to be legit. I don't want to presume that this James Madison Mitchell is connected if someone added the info. erroneously. I thought I had your personal email address, but it didn't show up. Will you please respond using mine since I'm not always on this site and don't want to miss your reply (no rush--just when you get a chance.) It is Lfinto@msn.com Thank you so much!! Not sure if this will work, but here is the link from FamilySearch: https://familysearch.org/tree/#view=ancestor&person=K672-GP7&spouse=K64P-122&parents=L6NV-CDG_L6NV-CFD§ion=sources

Yes, that is the family I am referring to. Obviously, you've had more success at finding records for William in Connecticut than I have. Will keep trying!.
Thanks for the response,

If you want the memorial I can transfer it
I have no problem doing that when they are not my relation
That was an interesting cemetery. If you need more photos from there in that family area I can go back when the ground dries up and the weather warmer
Just let me know on the transfer
|TheBlueJar||RE: Rachel Hotchkiss|
sure thanks for asking
