I was born in South Bend IN and raised in Elkhart IN, and moved to southwestern Illinois, near St Louis MO, after a four-year tour with the US Air Force when I graduated from high school. I have always been fascinated by cemeteries ever since I was a young child, especially small family cemeteries. In the last 30-plus years, I have delved into my family genealogy on my father's (Bjornstad) and mother's (Denson) side. My paternal grandfather, Kristian Bjornstad, immigrated from Norway in the early 1900s, eventually settling in eastern North Dakota. His oldest brother had an interest in the Bjornstad genealogy and he compiled the family record into a book and had it published in Oslo Norway in 1943, which traces the family origins to the first king of Norway. I have used it as a reference when submitting memorials for my father's ancestors on Find A Grave. On my mother's side, a distant cousin, Dr. Marion E. Denson of Columbia TN (now deceased) published a genealogy book in 1997 on the Denson families in America, tracing them back to the mid-1600s, when a William Denson came from England and settled in southern Virginia, near the present-day city of Norfolk. This book has been a great source of reference for my Find A Grave memorials pertaining to my Denson ancestors. Additionally, I want to give special thanks to Ronald C. Denson of Birmingham AL (now deceased) who also compiled a genealogy of my Denson ancestors which was very helpful.|
I also want to give special thanks to my wife, Angela Bjornstad, for her help in formatting the photos that I have posted to Find A Grave.
I am acceptable to transferring memorials on Find A Grave to anyone who requests them and who is a direct descendant of the person whose memorial I have posted, unless I am also a direct descendant. If I have incorrectly stated any information for any memorial that I manage, please use the Edit tab feature and I will gladly make the necessary correction(s). Also, I do not object if anyone posts pictures to any memorials that I created and still manage.
I do not have the ability to instantly make any changes or corrections to the Famous memorials that I have posted. Only the Find A Grave administrators can do that. If you should find an error on any Famous memorial that is credited to me, please contact email@example.com and provide them with the required changes/corrections.

Hwllo.I found your abbreviated bio for this memorial very helpful but unders stating his role during the Revolution. Also I cannot read the gravestone, but cannot contact photographer to ask for view of print on flat side of cemetery stone. Do youhave this? or know of anyone who could help with that request?
This is a direct ancestor of mine and I am intereted in having as much info as possible...and I was so thrilled to see the photo of his grave.
Thank you for your assistance.

|Astrid||Bjornstad Family ties?|
My name is Astrid Fry Hussey, Ph.D.. My father's mother was Alice Sigrid Bjornstad b. 1889 in MN. Her father was Julius Bjornstad born 1841 in Norway. Her brother was Brig General Alfred William "Wild Bill" Bjornstad. I wonder if you have ever been able to trace any connection between our Minnesota line of Bjornstads to your line? It is my understanding that the Bjornstad name was a "Farm Affiliation" name. Those with the name could be related because they all worked the same farm community. I would love to see the Bjornstad book to which you referred in your bio. Perhaps there would be some clues for me there. Cheers!

Thank you for the photo of my aunts marker. May I have your permission to copy this photo & place it on my Ancestry.com? Michelle
Thank you for the memorial for our Great Grandfather "Cap" Townsend. Your memorial page for our great-grandfather was our first experience with Find A Grave, we were so tickled to meet someone who actually knew him as a child. Thank you for sharing your memories, and for sparking our excitement for the Find A Grave cause. For over a year now, we have been updating and linking memorials to memorials of other family members. We have also been able to link orphaned infant graves memorials with their parents memorials. Thank you for being a wonderful caretaker, and for all your work with FindAGrave, with heartfelt gratitude and respect, Bobbi

Hi. I was doing a grave search and saw you did the bio for my Great Uncle Donald Call. I was wondering if we are related.
I only meet Uncle Donald once but we bonded. He was a favorite of mine.

Thank you!! Quite a story....

Every word of it.
This has happened before, and I will get it corrected. I THINK there's a glitch if I submit from work instead of from home.
|C.S.||General William Smith|
Did those administration fools deny General Smith? I don't know what they have against military figures. Four of my military figures from last year which were originally famous were overturned to non-famous. I don't know why they have a military figure section if all they are looking for is Medal of Honor recipients.
