Transfers: I will transfer ownership to direct descendants within four generations - the same as Find A Grave guidelines. Otherwise, I'm happy to add to memorials and make links, just click on the "Edit" tab on the top right of the memorial, then click on "Suggest a correction or provide additional information". Be sure to give me the person's ID number when requesting links.
One line of my ancestors (CROSE) lived in Tippecanoe Co., IN in the 1820s. Some of their cousins lived in the next county to the south, Boone, and some south of that in Hendricks Co. I live in northern Hendricks Co., and am taking photos mostly in Boone and Hendricks, including the older, more difficult to read stones. Hopefully, these photographs will be around longer than the headstones. Many are on the verge of not being readable - even with the sun at a good angle and using tricks to bring out the text.
Since I've been doing genealogy research for a number of years, I can see a real benefit in seeing headstones, rather than relying on a transcription. To me, the important thing is to be able to read the inscription (names & dates, child of ...), but not really the verse below it. It's also important to know who is buried next to whom. I'll mention that if I notice a connection.
Cemeteries that are completed - meaning that I photographed everything and have posted all that was readable. Other transcriptions may have more names. Beck - Bethel - Browns Wonder - Jones Lowry -Macedonia - Mintonye - Mt Union Mt. Zion - North Branch - Oak Hill (Sect 1-28, 34N & 34S) - Pleasant Hill (Indy) Pleasant View (Dover) - Poplar Grove - Prebster - Old Union Church - Robison - St. Malachy West - Salem - Sparks Taylor - Trotter (I can only find 33 of the 64 markers) - Weaver - Zionsville
I currently use a 10M Canon Powershot camera which will take pictures at 3648 x 2736 pixels. Normally I reset the resolution to 1600 x 1200 and then on the computer, especially with worn headstones, I turn up the contrast 20-30%, and lower the brightness 5-10% and keep the compression at 98 to 99%. When I started posting for Find a Grave the file size limit was 250 KB, then 350, 500, 750, 2000 and now 3000 KB. I use photo editing software that I downloaded for free - it's much better than what Canon or Olympus gives you with their camera. With Photoscape I know the file size before I save the file.

 | Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Shaw You are doing a remarkable job. I have a 3rd great grandmother for which I would GREATLY APPRECIATE a picture of her grave. Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Shaw 1782-1854)(Samuel Shaw 1773-1867). She was born in Bourbon Co KY and we think buried in Greenbush Cemetery AKA Lafayette City Cemetery, Fairfield Township, Tippecanoe Co., IN. Samuel is in the 1860 census in Iowa and is buried out there. He moved out there to live with a daughter. We have Elizabeth's death as 30 Aug 1864 and her Find A Grave # is 70936647 Beverly Smith Leach | | | jjdmom

 | Geo.L.Potter Memorial# 58921542 you have a memorial that seems to be the same person as the above number. Same guy, two postings here on F-a-Grave.
There's a chance it's 2 different men, but appears to me to the be the same guy. Pls contact that other memorial holder and transfer/combine your 2 postings.
Mr. Potter married Harriet Ferril - the granddaughter of Preacher Thomas Ferril. Harriet's aunt, Mary Alice Ferril, married my great grandfather.Added by deldean on May 10, 2013 11:26 AM | | | cfenters
