Hi. I'm Nancy, and like a number of others, I became a fan of Findagrave.com while researching my own family roots. Because I was able to find information about my family, I wanted to "pay it forward" by getting information out there for other families. I have taken photos and added memorials for a few people in Tennessee while visiting my sister and in Illinois and Missouri while visiting my family historical sites, but mostly I work trying to keep my local cemetery updated with pictures, memorials, and when possible, obituaries. I'm not aiming for high numbers and am not possessive of my memorials (unless they are on my family tree, I suppose.) If I have made a memorial for your family member and you would like to manage it, please let me know, I will happily turn it over to family. If you feel I have stepped on your toes by adding someone you had hoped to add, let me know and I will remove the memorial. My aim is to get the information out there; I don't care about having my name attached to it. If I have made a mistake, and I do, please let me know so I can fix it. |
I so appreciate Findagrave for allowing us to have a free forum for getting information and am willing to volunteer my time in hopes that others are doing the same where my family lives.

You can add his wife was also an Elizabeth. She was Elizabeth FAGAN 1827VA. She died between 1880-1900 in Marion MO but I cant locate her grave. I am related to all the HITT's if you need any info. Some are in Palmyra's Greenwood Cem and there are several I am still looking for. Thanks for all your help. Donna

Remarks say his wife was Elizabeth WHOBREY. This is not true. Elizabeth WHOBREY (b.1822 MO) was married to Jacob HITT. Son James Albert (J.A.)was married to Elizabeth A.UNKNOWN (b. 1855 PA). When I find her maiden name I will let you know. (My ggrandmother was Bina HITT. J.A's sister. Thank you for all your work!

Hello again Nancy,
Thank you for your generosity in transferring:
my uncle, John Alfred Henry # 78738609
to my care. With your help, I have successfully connected him with his parents, wife and children, which includes his oldest son who died just two weeks ago. As I receive more information, I will add it to Our shared memorial.
With sincerest appreciation,

Hi Nancy, thank you so very much for the photos of my Mother and Father grave markers. It's wonderful that you help with these efforts. And it's wonderful to see the photos of my parents grave marker. The marker reads:
IN ONE OF THE STARS WE SHALL BE LIVING, IN ONE OF THEM WE SHALL BE LAUGHING...
AND SO IT WILL BE, AS IF ALL THE STARS ARE LAUGHING, WHEN YOU LOOK UP AT THE SKY AT NIGHT,
AND THERE IS SWEETNESS IN THE LAUGHTER OF ALL THE STARS...
AND IN THE MEMORIES OF THOSE WE LOVE.
My Sisters and I are the ones that had this quote engraved on the marker. It is a quote from the wonderful book titled, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. There is also a comet engraved on the upper right corner in honor of the Hale-Bopp comet. On the upper left corner is the constellation of Orion. And on the upper center is the constellation of Cassiopeia. Our parents both loved the stars and we spent many hours with them star gazing. Thank you again Nancy.

You are very welcome. Their resting spot under that old crab-apple tree is lovely, and I wanted to show that, but also make sure the info was readable. I'm glad it worked so well.

Thanks for the time and energy expended to improve the memorial for King. And for all your other efforts, as well.

Glad I could help. Your request came at just the right time, as I was going to the cemetery to check another gravesite.
Thank you so much for the photo! Ancestry.com had a link to the page and I was surprised to see my grandfather's name there.
