|I got the family history bug when I found my parents in the 1930 census while hiding out in a library during a rainstorm. That was 8 years ago and I am still going.|
Researching the following families
Father--Morgan, Bryson, Staton, Burchett
Mother--Smith, Williams, Parsons, Wheat
Mostly in KY, TN & TX
Husband's family--Murphie, Gleason, Galway, Rice in Bermuda & Canada
Have been collecting tombstone photos for about 3 years
Will be happy to share info with anyone.

I couldn't verify the source of the Herman Allen information so I deleted the note. I did add other known children. Thanks!

If you have a GPS the Coords will get you to the cemetery, but they aren't accurate enough to post to Find A Grave.
|S. F. Evans||RE: Visit to Staton Cemetery|
It is at Eleanor, West Virginia on St Rt 62.
These coordinates are not the actual cemetery but should get you to within sight of it:
38 31.886 081 54.888.
I can't get the actual coords now as my Google Earth seems to have disappeared on my computer, LOL
It is on a hill side, there are stairs up to it. There is no parking available at the cemetery. We parked at a business down at the road level very briefly. I don't know if the business allows parking or not??
Hope this helps.

I did post the same message on the other memorial. I noticed your cemetery was different. It is strange. Thank-you for this important work! Genealogy is like life: an endless puzzle with missing or altered pieces (sometimes) ... so we just make notes clear. I'm so excited that most phones will now take gps coordinate positions to help add info... Even thought I'm not sure how to maximize the data yet. I have not heard back from the other memorial. I'd suggest just write a special note in the memorial to compare the similarities...sometimes it is amazing how cousins' lives intersect. Thank-you again for engaging in writing history from our relatives' perspective!

Thank-you for info. I will put that in my main book.

Thank you very much. If you ever want her back for any reason, just let me know, and I will relinquish back to you.
I can see by the picture that the cemetery looks pretty rugged. Perhaps in the late fall when the grass goes dormant might be a good time if there are more graves you are trying to get to.
I am still looking for 3 other children of Lem and Emma. They were Judith H. Akin, Agnes L. Akin, & Jack S. Akin. If you happen to find them, please keep me in mind.
Appreciate all the help Jo.
Very Best to You,
Thanks for your help!

Yes, you are correct, the date I had on the memorial was a burial date, but that has been changed now. I also came up with a birth date of 1902. Is that correct? Many times when I enter these memorials, I enter them from a plot sheet after I have visited the site and found gravestones. I enter them all. The unmarked ones I just enter from the sheets. I don't have time to go back to the office and get actual dates. I do so many of these that it is impractical to look them all up at the office. I wish I could so I would be more correct but it would take me forever. As it is, I do as much research linking with other family members as possible with those with stones with actual dates to work with. Myself and another lady are trying to enter the entire cemetery in Find A Grave so that people, such as yourself, who are looking for their ancestors, can find them. We have been on this quest for the last two years and have managed to only enter maybe half of the occupants.
I am going to the cemetery today and will see what I can find on Jewell. I tried looking her up on Ancestry.com this morning and found the 1902 birth, but there are other Jewell Morgan's in the country, so I wasn't real successful.
Thanks for your inquiry. Will do what I can.
