Bio Photo My name is Vickie. I grew up in Swannanoa, N.C. and now I live in Asheville. I enjoy researching family history and walking through cemeteries to read stones. Everyone deserves to be remembered. Someone somewhere loved them. Thanks to the great contributors here at Find a Grave, I have been able to see the graves of many family members that I would have never seen if it wasn't for their generosity. It is so nice to be able to visit a loved one's grave and not even leave the house.

If any of my memorials contain errors, or if you have information to add, please send me a message or an edit. All memorials are done with the utmost respect of those who have passed on and those of us left behind.

When my soul is restless
And things seem out of line,
I visit an old graveyard
To take a mystical step back in time.

I find the oldest tombstones
Then read the messages there;
I consider what their days had been
And how our lives in ways compare.

We all have lived though heartaches
As well as episodes of fun;
Surviving loss of loved ones,
And rewarded for a job well done.

Sometimes if I'm very still
I can hear what they have to say
And feel them reaching out to me
Grateful for my momentary stay.

RE: marshall and adcock family
Hi Helen, I still have not received a response from Find a Grave, but I did find some information in the help section of Find a Grave that applies to this situation. Here it is:

What about the privacy of living family members?

An individual's right to privacy disappears when they are deceased. The opinions of the relatives of the deceased fall on all sides of the question. Some people are angry to find a loved one when they come to Find A Grave, even if the memorial was added by another relative, as is usually the case, and some people are elated and send us notes of thanks for building an online memorial to their family member. If an immediate family member contacts us and wants information removed, we generally do so as a matter of respect for their wishes but we treat each request on a case by case basis. The names of living survivors will be removed from the biography section of a memorial upon request.

I already removed the obituaries and there are no living survivor's names on the memorials. If Find a Grave contacts me, I will forward it to you. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely, Vickie

Above you mentioned "An individual's right to privacy disappears when they are deceased."

This is what I found under FOIA and the Privacy Rights. "When these cases go to court, judges have ruled against FOIA requests in cases where the release of death-scene photos, autopsy photos or coroner's reports would cause anguish and harm to the deceased person's family. " I am sure that grave sites would be under the part of death-scene photos.
Thank you

RE: marshall and adcock family
Hi Helen, thank you for your message about the memorials that I created for your husband and three other members of his family. I removed the obituaries and that is all I am willing to do for now. I am waiting for a response from Find a Grave before I do anything else. I have never been told to delete memorials before and I wanted to see what they say. I did not take the pictures that you see on their memorials and I have not plastered their grave sites all over the internet as you said. In the future if you message me with the same manner of rudeness, I will not respond and whatever your request is, will not be honored.
Welcome to Find a Grave. I hope one day you will appreciate it.

Sincerely, Vickie

RE: marshall and adcock family
Vickie, I was not rude to you, I was being honest in what I believed. And as far as plastering all over the internet well they technically are all over the internet. Anyone can put my families name into the computer all over the world and pull up the grave site which makes it all over the internet. To some again they like it and appreciate it to my family they were private people both the Marshall's but also the Clark's, and the Edmonds which I requested be removed. And this they would be rolling over in their graves. They were not the kind of people who had their markers pictures taken and put up on the internet. If they were we their family would have done it! Not some strangers, and it seems to me you should have gotten the families permission and these markers are NOT Public Property! they are the families! I know I paid for one which is up Willard Junior Clark, MI died 1992 which I also asked to come down and expect it to come down. Just as I do expect my Husband's to come down. These are my rights. And I know you can remove them as I have seen someone marker asked to be removed because the poor woman was still alive and her's got removed. So please do as I ask and remove the markers and let my families rest in peace! Thank you Helen Marshall

marshall and adcock family
I have noticed you have found my Father in Law's family even the Gilden Methodist Cemetary where his parent's were buried. I understand some people like this but His family ie. Himself, His wife, His parent and further up in his ancestory, Her Parents and further up in her ancestory WOULD NOT. It is not fair to them to have their graves plastered all over the internet. So please Start with my Husband below David Henley Marshall and work your way back like you did in the first place. And remove the Grave sites. This is their dignity we are talking about. Others may like it be cause they can find their family heritage but they can also find their family heritage at the library, on, by going to cemetaries in the area, by going to and just searching. You don't have to plaster grave sites to know your ancestors. You can look for them on the social security dept, on the census bureau and many other sites that are free! So please remove all of my husbands family and if you have any family members related to Henry w Edmonds MI, and Mildred Donnabel Edmonds, MI, George Clark and Dorothy Clark, MI, Willard Clark and any other Clark and Edmonds related to this family I would remove them too as they are my side of the family and we are Irish and Scots and we don't like it either! Thank you Helen Marshall (formerly Clark)

Grave of David Marshall Please Remove
Please Remove the Find a Grave Information on David Henley Marshall 127496223 and also his parents links please. I am the wife of David and in the obituary they left my name off and my childrens so the obituary is wrong. There is no date on the stone of his death. And we were private people (especially his parents who would NOT like you taking pictures of their graves!) And I also do not appreciate you taking a picture of my Husbands grave! And if you don't believe that I am his wife look up his death certificate my maiden name will be listed as Helen Clark. And Flora and James Marshall are rolling over in their graves right now and if their family had come across this ie. their children they wouldn't be kindly asking for the removal like I am. And if you have Flora's parents or Jame's parents I would remove them too. i.e anyone else in the Adcock or Marshall family at Stokesdale United Methodist Church Cemetary as these were very private people (the whole town are private people and don't appreciate people taking pictures of their graves. It isn't done in this town!)I would remove them from Find A Grave Speaking as a Daughter In Law. thank you and I expect when I look up my family again they will all be removed! Helen Marshall

Madeline & Edwin Kamin
Hi Vickie, I can't thank you enough for your generosity and fixing Madeline's & Eddy's bios and so quickly too. I'd be honored if you would continue to manage their memorials. Am so new to F-A-G and prefer for an experienced person to do this. I added two pictures to Madeline's memorial. Hope they will make you smile. Our hearts are full of sweet memories, even though our arms are now empty. Christel & Larrie
