My name is Vickie. I grew up in Swannanoa, N.C. and now I live in Asheville. I enjoy researching family history and walking through cemeteries to read stones. Everyone deserves to be remembered. Someone somewhere loved them. Thanks to the great contributors here at Find a Grave, I have been able to see the graves of many family members that I would have never seen if it wasn't for their generosity. It is so nice to be able to visit a loved one's grave and not even leave the house.|
If any of my memorials contain errors, or if you have information to add, please send me a message or an edit. All memorials are done with the utmost respect of those who have passed on and those of us left behind.
"You LIVE as long as you are remembered." -Russian Proverbs
When my soul is restless
And things seem out of line,
I visit an old graveyard
To take a mystical step back in time.
I find the oldest tombstones
Then read the messages there;
I consider what their days had been
And how our lives in ways compare.
We all have lived though heartaches
As well as episodes of fun;
Surviving loss of loved ones,
And rewarded for a job well done.
Sometimes if I'm very still
I can hear what they have to say
And feel them reaching out to me
Grateful for my momentary stay.

Hi Viciie: I had received a request for this memorial but it appears you are closer with this surname incorporated within your name even. Do you want his memorial?

Thank you so much for your offer for transfer, I'd be happy to maintain Herman's memorial if you're not related. Thank you for doing such a nice job in creating it. I appreciate your nice work here on Find A Grave.
|Philip Martin||RE: John Wesley Martin|
John Wesley Martin memorial #: 60013505.
Thank you for your time. Again, how did you discover the suicide information of John?
|Philip Martin||John Wesley Martin|
I read your narrative on John. As I said previously he is my great grandfather and I am inquisitive about how you discovered the information about his taking his own life.
Would you share that with me?
|Philip Martin||Grave location for John Wesley Martin|
To whom this may concern.
My name is Philip Martin and John Wesley Martin is my great grandfather and on your site you list his grave site is as unknown.
John Wesley Martin is buried in a cemetery on County Home Road in Wentworth North Carolina.
The cemetery is located across the street from the Shady Grove Baptist Church on County Home Road, Wentworth, Rockingham, Co. North Carolina.
His grave is beside of his father's grave William Martin.
John's grave stone is a home made cut stone with His initials" J. W. Martin" etched on the stone. His father William appears to have a crude but professional stone.
He did take his life.
Thank you for writing. Yes, I'm aware that the lower photo on Bruce's memorial is not him, but his son, Mack. I've requested the contributor that posted it to remove it more than once...just requested it again. Hope she will do it, otherwise I will request that Find A Grave remove it. I was going to create a memorial for Mack for the obit you shared but realized he is the father that severely abused a cousin and friend of mine throughout her childhood/teens. Out of respect for her, I cannot create one for him. If you'd like to, that's up to you, although there is no burial place mentioned in his obituary. I appreciate hearing from you and your work here on Find A Grave.
Vicki, thanks for info.

|RTerry||Re: Dorothy James Hobby|
I have moved my memorial to the correct cemetery and added a note mentioning the double stone in both locations.
