Bio Photo I research many family lines>>
Smothers, Smethers, Smathers, SMEATHERS, Smither, Smithers, Smythers, Smitheys, Smiddys, GRASS, Longmire, STATLER, Beall/Bell, BERRY, Gentry, ASHBY, Stribling, Taliaferro, Youngman, Harris, Netherland, Lee, FOSTER, Greathouse, Showalter, Bowlus, RAMSEY, Strange, Ash, France, MILLER, HINCH, Hinsch, Hinchey, KELLY/Kelley, Butler, Clark, Dufner, May, Upton, Taylor, Day, Dowlearn, Upchurch, Turk, Reid, McElroy, Faught, Richardson, Schafer, Weymouth to list a few.
They come from Pa to NC/TN, from KY to TX.
Willing to take those of my family lines, extended families & those in our Smothers Tribe DNA project to manage when I run across them. I live in NE WA & at this time not available to search cemeteries nor take photos as physical disabilities hinder me in doing so or would do in a heartbeat. I will submit various family memorials as the information & gravestone information is gathered & given to me or I am able to do so. I gladly help anyone I can, esp along the lines I research to help connect families. It is my passion as a genial genealogist to assist others as much as possible.

...I like this I saw on a gal's page recently, "Let's make it a goal to add as much information, as we can possibly document, to these memorials."

Had to snag this from a gal's site.."I enjoy reading contributors Bio's but it's called that for a reason but Not, to use the space to reiterate F-A-G guidelines by a contributor who feels the need to preach to others about how they should make their memorials. Believing we are all adults & know the guidelines most all do act accordingly & do not need to be preached at."

New! snagged this on member's site which I agree with 100%, "Any and all info or pics I have uploaded are meant for SHARING! Family memories were meant to be passed on. I just don't understand anyone that thinks different, if you don't want to share, than DON'T put them on a public site!"
One good note I want to post-From FAG: Death certificates may be added via the "Add a photo" button on the memorial page. [that should end that discussion]I like DC for their info not always totally correct but most of the time very informative good info and helps to show especially if someone died young, why, I feel that is important to visitors and family, esp if it is some inherited issue family needs to know.
There is a dna test out now called 23and me that also helps families know of inherited issues esp any fatal ones passed from generations.

I admin our Smothers Tribe DNA project 2002-2014 as well as admin at least 50+ rootsweb & ancestry mail lists & boards to help others. I live on a ranch, am happily retired and besides a heartfelt Passion for Genealogy; my beloved family of children, grandchildren, cousins & precious friends, all my critters too esp my sweet little deer herd I've made great friends with over the years; I immensely enjoy working with F-A-G and members in helping folks connect with their ancestors. Am happy to make links, corrections & transfers. I am especially appreciative of our gravestone photographers and are owed big Cudos!!
Many kind thanks to all who leave flowers on any of our ancestor memorials!~Happy Trails!

Here are tidbits:JFYI
finding Gravestones without a dob>
when you don't have a dob and only dod & yr, mo, dy-here's a formula to figure out the dob
example: person died May 6 1889 age 71yr 7mo 9dy
1. write year, month day >18890506
2. subtract age at death >> 710709
3. gets this sum >>>>> 18179797
4. subtract 8870 >>>>>> 1817/09/27
= Sept 27 1817
here is another way to do it if the above gets you too frustrated/:-)
freebie calculator someone sent me. http://www.progenealogists.com/birthfromdeath.htm

If you wonder when census are done go here

Here is a link to a You Tube video about reading unreadable tombstones. Very interesting technique.

this one might be very helpful for photographers

LDS site has added millions of new records; checking it probably will find a DC for that individual with most all info one needs for any missing dob/dod's.

When giving your Member # to someone be sure to give them your whole link in your browser, otherwise they end up at a dec'd person's memorial; this separates being a member in F-A-G vs being a dec'd person with a memorial where you only need their member # to find them, can't find a F-A-G member though using this method, trust me I've done it, and end up at an unknown person.

"The Dash" is based on that little line on a tombstone, between the dates of birth and death. Ultimately, that dash is a symbol which represents every day they've spent alive on earth. Therefore, how you spend your "dash" is all that really matters. These memorials we do for folks hopefully give a glimpse into their lives of that DASH!

**FLASH NEWS UPDATE:ancestry.com has bought F-A-G
will remain Free but some changes are coming.**
**UPDATE**notice at top of your personal page is a tab says Edits now, when you click there you have info sent from another to add to a memorial,
so you then accept, deny or ignore; also now on memorials, same goes, to send Edits now on a memorial, use the various boxes provided when you click on Edit and once the memorial person agrees they click Accept and its automatically done, walou, awesome! If there is more info one wants added like marr rec/census info, etc then can click on where it says Other info etc...cool!
thanks kindly, More later~~Happy Trails >>>>

Hi Nena! I don't have any further info that what I posted on Mr. Goertz's memorial page. Would you like me to transfer his memorial to you since you're a relative? Then you can update it as needed. Please let me know ... :)

O. B. White
Nina is was trying to connect O. B. White to his father but it tells me that you have a transaction already not sure if that is what was your intention also the number of his father is 86186518 buried at Oakwood cemetery in Austin, texas. I could not find Emmett's wife I am sure she married again as Emmitt had died so young. I did find where her name is Grace Marfore Atkinson married Emmett August 31, 1918. I found they had four children two daughters I can't find because they married but I have asked for Aubrey to also be connected to his father Emmett White.

Nena, I still go to PC Cemetery twice a year and try to fill requests and take random photo's each time I go. I have family there and go a little before Christmas and Memorial Day. I will gladly retake the photo and if that doesn't work I will try to record what is engraved. Enjoyed your bio and will use some of the links you included. You might want to send me an e-mail or note later to remind me. cj
