Hi, I looked at ancestry.com for any military information. All I found that he enlisted in the military from Houston, Texas on June 23, 1942. I did some google searches on his name and didn't find anything. I'm sorry I can't help. I am not related. Thanks,

LEROY EDGAR BENDIX, 70, died Friday at Tampa General Hospital. A native of Echo, Minn., he moved to Zolfo Springs in 1966 from the South Pacific. A retired staff sergeant in the Air Force, he served in World War II and in the 82nd Airborne in Vietnam, was a member of VFW, American League, Air Force Sergeant Association, Moose lodge and was Lutheran. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his parents, Edgar and Fern of Stillwater, Minn.; four daughters, Camille Soos of Tampa, Elenore Dillard of Astor, Reyna Wood of Tampa and Rose Toombs of Henderson, Nev.; six sons, Murrell Dillard of Astor, Larry of Divermon, Ill, Robert Koontz of Port St. Lucie, Denny Koontz of Ashley, Ohio, Warren of Fort Pierce, Lendon of Coronado, Calif; four brothers, Mer lyn, Vernon, Richard and Leland, all of Minnesota; seven sisters, Madonna Nererem, Loretta Freitag and Faye Freitag, all of Minnesota, and Violet Law, Betty Ann Richert and Joyce Wolf, all of Wisconsin, and Diane Rivera of California; 24 grandchildren; a nd nine great-grandchildren. 2) AUBURNDALE -- Mr. Virgil Eli Bliss of Auburndale died Sunday (Nov. 17, 1996) in Auburndale. He was 85.
Born in Newton, Ill., on Dec. 23, 1910, he moved to Auburndale from Melbourne in 1955. He was self-employed in the automobile industry. He was an Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Auburndale.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Bliss. He is survived by his wife, Lola "Grace" Bliss, Auburndale; son, Richard Bliss, Plant City; daughter, Judith Wilson, Altamonte Springs; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Kersey Funeral Home, 108 Lake Stella Drive, Auburndale.
