There was a sticker on the head stone saying he was a veteran but he did not have a military marker or I would have taken a picture of it.Also he is not in the national data base having a military marker.

My Europeon Friends
Hello Dominique,

Thank you for your reply to my recent comments. It is people like you that most folks here in America are proud to call Friend.

I personally, and America, has a very good friend in the Netherlands. His name is Andy Swinnen. I believe you would find it extremely interesting to look at his project in Facebook. Andy has compiled a web site with the history of the 8th Air Force, 401st Bomb Group, which flew B-17 bombers over Germany in WWII. This is a very large web site with many photos. Andy is very active with the Find A Grave web site as well, which is how I became acquainted with him. He and many other Dutch citizens have "adopted" graves of fallen American airmen now buried in Holland and I believe in Belgium also. I'm quite sure you would find his work to be very interesting.

Looking forward to further communication, Domi.

Too funny! Email me at I am planning a trip to the U.S. National Archives at St. Louis where they have the military files. I will add him to my list but will need a reminder.

And thank YOU for your service! :-)

Hi Dom,

I search for an obit for him without success, but I did find the name on the 507th roster:
His service number is on the list. I also checked the website fold3 without anything conclusive.
It's an honor to post these pictures so they can be remembered. <3

Thank you for the remembrance and care you have shown for American servicemen who died in Europe during WWII. You are indeed a friend. I wonder if you are aware that you had posted two identical photos to this memorial?

It's about 3/4 of the way down the page, but doesn't say exactly what he did for the 82nd Airborne.

Astor O. Magnuson, Belgium
Hi, I found a stone for him in a cemetery in Ridgway, Pa. (Find A Grave Memorial# 171311140) but the death dates are different. I couldn't make out the dates on his cross in Belgium, but the one in Pa. states he died in 1946, Belgium states 1945. You added the photo, which is why I contacted you.
