Samuel O Blair
Melanie - Thank you for making this memorial. There is, however, a correction to the name. Samuel's middle initial is Q not O. It is hard to see on the tombstone but what has been picked up as the . after the letter is indeed the curl of the Q. - Samuel is my husband's great grandfather. Family history is that Samuel had no middle name or initial. When he enlisted for the civil war, he was told that he needed at least an initial so he chose Q. His name is engrave on the Pennsylvania monument at Gettysburg. Again, thank you for your contribution to Find A Grave. Lynita (Mrs. David Blair) Pollock

RE: Tom Andres

I remember Eileen as being so kind and very soft spoken. I had no idea she had so many step-children! All my sister and I knew were Tom and Bob (the name George confused me.)

We were both very saddened when they moved. We then encountering Tom again when I was very young when he was an usher at Warner's Theater.

Thanks for your response. I still have one friend living in Erie that I correspond with regularly. However, a widely spread pack of Academy '61 pals
stays in regular touch.

All the best to you and yours

Tom AndresErie PA/ Find-a-Grave

I think I have found my childhood friend from Erie, PA.--Tommy Andres and perhaps his kind mother.

Did Tom's mother and kids live on 30th street, between Cascade and Raspberry?

I remember his mother (Eileen Strawn, perhaps?) She was a single mother, which was unusual in my neighborhood. He had a younger brother--perhaps George?

A bit older than the rest of the kids, Tom was always the leader of games!

LCPL Chance Phelps (#8707911)
Melanie, I saw this message on Brenda's page that I think was actually meant for you...

See Memorial #8707911 LCpl Chance Russell Phelps...

"I couldn't help but notice that you provided the bio for LCpl Chance Russell Phelps. I think it would be nice and appropriate to add that the Movie, "Taking Chance," starring Kevin Bacon, depicts Chance's transport home to Wyoming, also providing a heart warming bio of him and his family. I was so very moved by that Movie, as I'm sure hundreds of thousands of others were, that I purchased it to share with my grandsons. It really made Chance Russell Phelps "famous" in our hearts. Blessings, Sandi :-)
Thanks, Richard

RE: Schnell connection
Hi Melanie,

We are related! I believe we exchanged e-mail in Jan 2012. I live in California, but I'm in Erie this week, doing research. I'm pulling about 300 obituaries from the library, and visiting about 10 cemeteries in Erie, Edinboro, and Girard. Would you like to meet for a drink?

RE: Carol?
I am sorry, but I thought you might know how I can resolve this. She (Carol)seems to have gone around entering info on graves as a hobby & she has passed away & she now "owns" some of my family graves. One of the is Pearl Meyer, my mother in law. I saw your name & I thought you are familiar with her.

I see that Carol passed away. She has taken ownership of some of my family graves. How can that be resolved?
