Please feel free to request transfer of memorials. I grant management of memorials that I have created, to both family and friends. As long as their is positive intent, I have no problem relinquishing management of memorials. The whole point of graving is remembering those gone before us. This is information to be shared, not hoarded.
Here's a little personal dittie that I have written about graving
"Tis rock and stone and fence and mound I seek.
A lonely grave on a grassy knoll, inside my heart I keep.
A grandfather, not once but twice my great,
was buried there a'fore my eyes opened
for the first time.
An Auntie took me there, so long ago. I myself have been there, so I know
That there he rests, among the hills, and calves, and grass, and sky, and wind.
But I myself like him, am now so old, I can't remember all the stories told. Nor where exactly lies this grassy grave. Where a man once homesteaded and stood so brave.
I want to put a flower on his stone, to let him know that he is not alone. Round the bend, I go and carry with, My honor and my love, for Grandpa Smith.
But sun is going down, and I don't see, the very place I seek where he should be. Perhaps tomorrow will find me, finding him. If not, the grass keeps blowing in the wind."
In memory of Edmond Elliot Smith (1840-1908)

Hi, my name is Amber and I am a direct descendent of Edmund. I was curious if you knew anything about his daughter Gertrude. I am descended through Gertrude but have hit a dead end in finding where she is buried. Can you be of any help? I have extensive info on Gertrude's husband's (Hayden Jacob Petrie) family as that is one of my main lines. I look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you. I'll let her and her mom know. thank you for your dedication.

Thank you. I really enjoy doing what I'm doing. It's like discovering history. Also my daughter-in-law is related to Samuel Sturdevant, so it was a dual challenge.

Yes, we are cousins (well at least our husbands are) In fact double kin. Emily's husband Wiley B Baxter was brother to my husbands GGG grandfather. How cool. In fact my husband's middle name is Baxter (which he hates, he says it sounds like a dog name, lol) Great to meet you and glad I have finally made contact with the Sullivan side of our family. My husband;s family lives just down the road from the "Sullivan Place" as they call it. All the houses are gone now, but my husband says he remembers them well and used to hunt down there. Would love to exchange info. I have alot of info on them (Sullivans and Baxters ) on findagrave. My husbands grandfather Baxter was Hampton Gideon Baxter and is buried in Long County Georgia if you want to look up the connection. Would love to have you folks come to the Howard family reunion. Its held the 2nd Saturday in November in Glennville, Georgia.Great to meet ya!!!

I see you list Jacob H Sullivan # 54944960 as your uncle. Are you related on the Sullivan side of his family? I am kin on the Howard side of the family.
Jacob H's(middle name is Howard) grandmother was Annah Susannah Howard, one of our ancestors....

Thank you very much for your kind comments. I sure do appreciate it.
Hurrah for the Bayou State!

Marienberg Castle ... never went. I was too busy drinking beer and running to Frankfurt.
I was in WB from 79-80, then took a job in Aschaffeburg from 80-81, and then out. Couldn't see making the military a career, even though I sorta did, from a civilian perspective.
Have you gone back to Germany? I went to the northern part of the country a few years back, near Oldenburg. It really is a beautiful country.

I , sent you a reply, but Find flagged it for review due to possible inappropriate content. Geez! Long story!
In brief, I was also in Wuerzburg, but at Leighton. We didn't go to the field much in my unit, but there were some who STAYED in the field.
I am not related to Margaret that I know of, except in a very round about way. You probably know all about her family, but I started digging again the last few days and discovered a connection of sorts.
Margaret's daughter, Ida Johns to Ida's daughter, Florence who married Floyd Loftis.
Floyd and Florence were my aunt's parents, my aunt being married to my mom's older brother. Florence died young, but Floyd got around pretty good well into his later years. He had cataracts, but he drove around Arlington, which was a little scary.
But the family (and the locals) thought he really couldn't do too much harm if he stayed driving at 20 MPH around the neighborhood and kept off the highway, which he did. Ha ha ... yeah. I remember him.
So anyway, Margaret is my aunt's great grandma, and I really need to talk to her about all this and share Margaret's photo with her and tell her the story behind it.

Updates completed and links made ~ Thank you
We have even more in common than what you realize. I was born in Iowa, but many of my family members are from Washington and Douglas counties and some still live there. The family members who remain live in the Arlington area, so it wouldn't surprise me if they walked some of the same lands that Margaret once walked.
I was also stationed in West Germany when it was the FRG ~ 3rd ID. Beyond that, I live in Vernon Parish.
Small world, huh? :-)

Thank you for adding the photo to Margaret's memorial ... very nice. I also noticed you flowered Margaret and called her Auntie. I was wondering if you had any further details on her, such as maiden name, parents, etc. I always try to add whatever details I can.
