If you are refering to Rita Lanier Kicklighter, Find A Grave Memorial# 77186862 of Claxton, Evans Co., GA. b: Mar. 30, 1934 d. Mar. 17, 2011, daughter of Frank and Annie Bell (Jones) Lanier.
Looks like the closest connection of my Lanier family line to to Rita (Lanier) Kicklighter of Claxton, Evans Co., GA, would be Rita (Lanier) Kicklighter's direct ancestor John Lanier Jr.'s brother Sampson Lanier who is my direct ancestor, both the son's of John Lanier Sr. who was born Oct. 1631 in Lewisham or Lewisburg, England, who had married Lucreece (?) (Last Name Unknown), and had immigrated to America in 1656. John Lanier Sr. known among the family as John the Immigrant, moved to Virginia, and his brother, Robert, to Barbados. All of Robert's sons later came to Virginia also. These two brothers are given credit for being the initial ancestors of nearly all the Lanier's in Virginia. John and Lucreece, along with infant son John, were transported to America in 1656 by Howell Pryce. They took up residence in Charles City County, Virginia, assumably to raise tobacco. John & Lucreece were transported by Howell Pryce, who received his patent in April, 1657, for transporting 47 persons, for which he received 2350 acres of land.
