SUMMER 2015 MESSAGE:|
We are currently moving to Salem, Oregon, so are behind on our edits. But we will get to yours as soon as we can! Sorry for any delay.
My husband and I enjoy finding monuments for other people and am extremely grateful to the volunteers who have found my own people for me. We've been working on finding the little pioneer cemeteries in the area and putting their inhabitants online. Four of our memorial pages even helped to catch a gravestone thief. Cemeteries are extremely vulnerable to vandalism, theft, and the damage of time and weather. We appreciate all of the volunteers out there who are working so hard to document them before they are lost to history.

I'm not a numbers addict or collector, but I adhere to Findagrave policy:
◊Find A Grave's primary purpose is a graves registration website.
◊Find A Grave's secondary purpose is a memorialization/remembrance site.
◊Find A Grave's tertiary purpose is a genealogical resource.
Transfers are only made within the guidelines set up by Find A Grave. These guidelines are in place for a reason - whether one cares to accept them or not. I am not going to debate what the owner has deemed acceptable for his site with members who choose not to agree with the guidelines. "The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I am willing to consider transferring ownership to you if you have a close family member among my records. I rarely transfer relationships more distant than first cousin... just having someone "in my family tree" or "a relative" will not elicit a transfer.
If you want information added to a memorial, go to the memorial and use the "Edit" tab to send me the information-- including family links. I will add information to the memorial, I do not transfer just because someone wants to add links or other information. Bottom line: what are you planning on doing with the entry that I haven't already done or am unable to do?
On the other hand, if you upload family photos or in some other way add value to the memorial, I am much more willing to transfer. I will always transfer a memorial if you sponsor it.
I welcome all corrections to my own work. Some records were imported using OCR so have inevitable errors, both from the original records and from machine interpretation. I am only human and make mistakes, too, but will always make it priority to correct them.

I have been to the cemetery indicated and think that I have located David's tombstone however, he died in 1833 so therefore is very difficult to read but could also contain German in the inscription. When I inquired at the church, Zions Ev Lu Ch Cemetery, I was told by the caretaker and his wife that David Heil is not buried there.
Could you also identify the location of the tombstone regarding the above referenced subject matter?

Thanks again for transfer. I'm not sure how I can delete the obit on this memorial. I would like to enter the obit from our the local newspaper which contains much more accurate/complete info that is contained in this notice. I think you need to delete? Thanks for your help!

Good day to you. Hope your move went well.
I am at the St. James Cemetery snd can not find Samuels headstone. Would you by any chance be able to indicate where it may be located? I am his 4th Great Granddaughter and would like to tend his grave if needed. Thank you for your efforts and kind consideration on FindAGeave.

Thank you so much for transferring my mom's memorial to me. Appreciate all you do at Mt. Jefferson Cemetery.

You are very welcome. I'm very sorry there was not a stone. That seems to be a very chronic thing in the West Laurel Hill Cemetery. He's on my list to see if I can find any other information about him, I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

Hi. I'm researching Schells and saw your note of Barbara(#31613124) being the daughter of Michael and Rosina Schell. Can you tell me how you came to this information? Thanks very much.

Hi Carrie & Allen,
I found Curtis Peterson's obituary in my grandmother's scrapbook. My grandmother passed away in 1997 and she saved obituaries of family and friends. I believe Curtis' grandparents in Donnybrook (Mr. & Mrs. Miller) were friends. I'm sending it on the SUGGEST ANY OTHER CORRECTION OR ADDITION link, with hopes that you will add it to his memorial. Thanks for your consideration. Sincerely, Nancy Zeltinger Austin - Contributor #47321269
