Bio Photo      I enter records here on Find A Grave for two reasons: First to help others find the graves of lost family members and second to remember our War Hero's who have "Given Their All" for our country!

If you'd like me to fix any of the records that I maintain ... please click on the "Edit" button on the top right of the record, click on "Suggest a Correction" ... Enter your note and/or correction and I'll fix them as quickly as possible.

When requesting a transfer use the edit tab on the memorial and follow the below from F-A-G. Or the request will be ignored.

From F-A-G

"Explain your relationship in the request! Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred. Keep in mind that the original contributor may also be related to the memorial and may not make the transfer. Bulk surname requests should not be made."

I'm currently working on updating and entered Soldiers and Sailors who "Gave Their All" during World War II. To see more on this project please click on my website below...

I originally started researching my Family Tree when my oldest son, Chris, came home from school one day and said that they had to write up their family tree as a project. This, of course, led me to many cemeteries and I quickly became interested in them also.

I've always enjoyed history and the two fell together.

Again, If I've created a record that someone needs deleted (since some families do not want their loved ones on the internet) or that you want me to update please let me know and I'll be glad to update it for you.

Hi Russ

Sorry, got behind on my Find A Grave mail. Floyd's memorial has been updated with the bio you sent.

Thanks for being in touch!

Hi Russ, I used the same words found in the article/obit regarding 'step' brothers. I didn't try to figure out much more. You can use, or not use the info as you like, but I thought the info would be useful to someone down the line.

Good morning to you, Russ!

Your kindness is very much appreciated. Thank you for checking this out for me. I am up against a tight deadline with my book. I just thought it would add to Charles' bio if he had earned a Purple Heart.

Thank you for your caring heart.

Russ, Thanks so much for the information you provided for Bernard Aspinwall, Alna Cemetery - Alna, Maine. Honor has been given to one to whom honor is due. You signed off with the words: "Thanks my friend" It is you that has shown yourself a friend by the work you have done in establishing numerous memorials to our military heroes. Glen

RE: William Funk
You are welcome. You created the memorial first and I know you take good care of them. I just photo-document. Not in it for the numbers...just the preservation, making sure they are remembered.

RE: Conrad J Hilbinger
Conrad, better known to family as "Buddy", was my Dad's step brother. Dad died in 1996 and never spoke about Buddy. He had no other siblings. Buddy was 10 yrs older than my dad. I recently found a picture roaming through my mom's old photo boxes leading to fact that he was a pilot. I find out enough information and stories to write a book. Obviously, he (along with Co-pilot from Columbus, OH) named the B-17 the 'Buckeye Blitz' as he left Ohio State with a promising future professional engineering career prior to his senior year.

I am so pleased that there are folks like you who care about those who sacrificed all that we may live with freedom in our country.

Russ, I have been told that my cousin Charles William Jones is supposed to have been awarded a Purple Heart. His wife says she does not know if that is true. Can you help me find out where to go to be sure?

Charles lived in Andrews, NC and had to attend high school in Bryson City, Sylva and Asheville, NC because there was no school available to him here in Andrews, Cherokee County, NC. He was born 19 May 1941 and died 10 June 2012 in Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. He served in Vietnam but I do not know the years. His mother says he went in at 17 years old.

I am currently writing a book and would like to give credit to your Find a Grave site and to give Charles his just dues if possible. May I have your permission? I am not asking you to do the research, but to help me with where to look. The local contact for veterans here was not at all helpful. I am very new at genealogy.

One person I have written about in my book was one of the very first WACs ( a "ten percenter"). She still lives in Sylva, NC and is a part of our Baptist Association. I love her dearly. She is now in her 90s.

Thank you for putting up with my long note. You must be so very busy. Bless you for this vital work, Russ

RE: Pvt Joseph Cascio
Hi Russ, sounds OK to me to leave Joe Cascio there. As you can see, I got the locations for your list for Holy Redeemer, and I've started loading them.
