Bio and Links
Bio Photo Retired military. Genealogy is a passion but I slow down when football season arrives. Willing to help others as much as possible. I focus on my Stewart roots (West Virginia and Pennsylvania) and the Marshall family on my mother's side (Virginia).

I have photo documented local cemeteries in my area of James City County, Charles City County, Williamsburg and York County, VA. I am currently working on cemeteries in Surry, Sussex, Isle of Wight and Southampton Counties, VA.

I have also photo documented several cemeteries in the Hilton Head Island, SC, Kitty Hawk (Dare County), NC and Leavenworth, KS areas while on vacation.

If I have added a memorial for one of your family members just let me know your Find A Grave member number and I will transfer it to you.

Hey Ron,

Yes, you are like me . . not concerned with numbers, ownership, etc. :-) If you need a photo of a grave in the Winston-Salem or Greensboro area, let me know.

Thanks for answering so quickly!!

Maybe it's me. but I couldn't find where to add a grave memorial.

Clyde Butterton parents:

James Thomas Butterton 31 May 1867-7 Aug 1911 He was born & died in Bertie County, North Carolina

Lena Jean Taylor 2 Aug 1868-11 Jun 1954. She also was born & died in Bertie County, North Carolina. I have a photo of Lenas' gravestone.

Bernice Frances Edwards 9 Jun 1903-14 Jan 1988. She was born in Nansemond County, Va and died in Newport News, Va. I have a photo of her grave also. She is buried next to Clyde in Lawn 2 Section C grave 1930.

Thanks you again,

Find A Grave Memorial# 84285220

I have been trying to add parent and wife info to my grandfather's memorial. When I enter a name I get an error message advising to enter numbers??? His memorial is Find A Grave Memorial# 84285220.

I added two photos today and have photos of my grandmothers' grave...but I am unable to create a memorial for her.

I corrected the marriage date for Marguerite. Do you want me to transfer Marguerite to you?

Ron, you will not believe what I came across today. I was browsing through one of my Aunt Shirley's old cookbooks from the 2004 Jackson Family Reunion and it had a picture of Virginia Marshall Douglass along with a recipe for "Soup for Invalids". I was shocked and thought of you immediately! If you would like me to email it to you, I would be happy to do so. Just send me your email address. You can send it to me at if you prefer it not be posted online. Thanks! Dianna Pierson

RE: Lura Cruise dupicate
Did u tell Find A Grave your record should be the one kept since it was based on local research by Carroll County citizens? That might b enough since Find A Grave often sides with local folks versus someone that no live in the area

Send a note to Findagrave and give them the details of what you believe is just one cemetery and they can merge them. Also, a good source of burials is the publications done by the Carroll County genealogical association and they have a website and volunteers to validate data if you need it.
