Bio Photo Retired military. Genealogy is a passion but I slow down when football season arrives. Willing to help others as much as possible. I focus on my Stewart roots (West Virginia and Pennsylvania) and the Marshall family on my mother's side (Virginia).

I have photo documented local cemeteries in my area of James City County, Charles City County, Williamsburg and York County, VA. I am currently working on cemeteries in Surry, Sussex, Isle of Wight and Southampton Counties, VA.

I have also photo documented several cemeteries in the Hilton Head Island, SC, Kitty Hawk (Dare County), NC and Leavenworth, KS areas while on vacation.

If I have added a memorial for one of your family members just let me know your Find A Grave member number and I will transfer it to you.

Update.............

As you may already know, there are two sets of Forsyth County "Tandy and Mary Marshalls".

Tandy Marshall [25072889] married Mary Polly Nelson [25072886] on March 26, 1833 in Stokes County.

They were the parents of:
Eliza Jane Marshall Inscore(1835-1914)
Julia Marshall(1837-1923)
Jesse J Marshall(1840-1922)

Tandy Marshall [9562859] married Mary Ann Terry [9562858] on March 9, 1848 in Stokes County.

They were the parents of:
Wyatt Marshall(1849-1909)
Ellen Marshall Grubbs(1852-1925)
Joseph William Marshall(1854-1936)
Milly A Marshall Slater(1855-unk)
Alfred Marshall(1859-1859)
Alice Nevada Marshall James(1860-1946)
Amanda Elizabeth Marshall Krause(1865-1945)
Mary Arlena Marshall Grubbs(1869-1963)

In order for the first Tandy to be the father of Solomon, he would have had to marry Mary Smiley in Warren County on September 25, 1831, conceived a son four months later on January 21, 1832, then married Mary Polly Nelson 14 months later on March 26, 1833 in Stokes County. Since we have Solomon being conceived prior to the marriage, it does leaves room for an unusual marital circumstance or Mathew may have died before 1850 and is buried in Warren County. Warren and Franklin Counties are quite a distance from Stokes and Forsyth Counties. Would like documentation before I link him to Tandy.

I don't think his mother was one of the wives of Tandy Marshall. I posted his parents Warren County marriage license on his memorial in which his father went by the name Mathew as printed on his moms stone.

Tandy Marshall married Polly Nelson on March 26, 1833 in Stokes County. Some of their children were:

Eliza Jane Marshall Inscore(1835-1914)
Julia Marshall(1837-1923)
Jesse J Marshall(1840-1922)

Tandy Marshall married Mary Ann Terry on March 9, 1848 in Stokes County. Some of their children were:

Wyatt G Marshal(1848-unk)
Ellen Marshall Grubbs(1852-1925)
Joseph William Marshall(1854-1936)
Milly A Marshall Slater(1855-unk)
Alice Marshall James(1860-1946)
Amanda Elizabeth Marshall Krause(1865-1945)
Mary Arlena Marshall Grubbs(1869-1963)

I am assuming he is buried next to Mary Ann "Polly" Terry because of her death date.

RE: Thanks
No problem. I never worry about any of that. Just wanted to let you know about the photo. Also, I had added Hubert Branscom. (no E) If he is one of yours, I am happy to transfer.

RE: Thanks
Ron,
You are welcome. I went in to edit her maiden name and I see you created a duplicate memorial for her today. I will move the photo to yours and delete the memorial I created.

RE: William Purdum
I really appreciate all the find a graves you have done. Simply amazing! William Purdum's Civil War Pension record, which I got copies back in 1976, states in 1898 both his wife and children were all dead. So with him not having any direct lines possible alive, I would be honored to have find a grave memorial transferred to me. There was 8 boys and 2 girls in the family and 7 boys were in the Civil War. I've found them all on Find a grave except for one brother in Montana. Thank you so much again.

RE: A big thank you!
No problem. This has been my favorite cemetery yet as it was a treasure to find in the middle of the woods on a side of a hill/mountain. I didn't find it on my 1st attempt so I had to wait until the leaves were off the trees to see the fence. They are my great great grandparents. My grandma was Hattie Gurtis Hiatt. Her mom and dad was Issac Knott Hiatt and Sissie Marshall. I have a photo of Sissie and Ike on my ancestry.com webpage: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/39105575/person/19325756909 And Sissie's parents are the ones buried in Marshall cemetery. Her dad Rufus was a school teacher and caught the measles and past.

Let me know if you have any further info on this line I would love to see them.

Thanks,
Andrea Freeman
