Bio and Links
Bio Photo Until 2011, I was a volunteer historian for the National Park Service at Andersonville NHS for 15 years. The arrival of a new Park Superintendent at Andersonville who who had conflicts in the way I pay tribute and honor those who died here brought on what I believe were illegal, anti NPS Policies, and cowardly acts of what I feel were retaliation against me between November 2009 and May 2011 by ways of lies, deception, and documented slander against me. As a result of my belief that the lack of ethics and true honor paid to these hallowed grounds are not a priority of the command at Andersonville National Historic Site, I no longer volunteer for the National Park Service however I still volunteer for the public.... those who matter.

I have a complete database on Andersonville prisoners as well as modern graves up to 2006. I do free research for the asking. As in all of my findagrave photos, double click on the photo and I have included the known details from the Andersonville record archives.

I have many resources available to me for researching not only Andersonville prisoners that the Andersonville Historic Site does not have access to and I have photographed each of the more than 14000 Federal Civil War graves at Andersonville National Cemetery on disk at my fingertips.

Please feel free to join my facebook group which is based on Andersonville descendants, however anyone with interest in the History of Andersonville of the National Cemetery at Andersonville is welcome to join.

Thank you so much for the picture of the grave of William Jones. He was married to a GG Aunt. It was interesting to read about this cemetery and place in history. I linked the grave of Martha Ann Chute to this page.

Kevin- I want to thank you for all the hard work you do to preserve information about and honor our Civil War veterans. I am pleased and surprised that my request was fulfilled so fast. My great great grandfather was a prisoner at Andersonville and survived the Sultana disaster and eventually married Samuel Smalley's widow. Who would have guessed that could happen. I am now wondering if they knew each other at Andersonville. Keep up your good works and don't let anyone in our government deter you from what you know is the right thing to do. Many Thanks!!

Walter S Personette AKA 'Stephen Walter'
Hi Kevin, Thank you for the info on Walter/Stephen Personette. Actually I found a request for a military headstone for him made in 1879. The headstone is in Orange, Essex Co., New Jersey at the Roseville Cemetery. I believe it is only a memorial headstone for him as his body was probably never identified. I appreciate that you took a picture of the 'unknown' soldier at Andersonville National Cemetery. His remains are probably still there. Thanks again, Robin
