Note:
Most of my memorials were created from the 'Kansas Room burial listings' that are listed in the 'References Used' section below. Please do not send me a SAC that has an accusatory tone. Most errors in my memorials are due to transcription errors in that list.
I am more than happy to make corrections... just be polite about it.
URGENT:
Please do not leave me corrections on this profile page. See below for instructions on how to send corrections... that is the preferred way for me (and for Find A Grave, see FAQs). Thank you.
Please use the Suggest a Correction link on the EDIT tab on a memorial if you'd like to send me questions or suggestions}. Any SACs left on my profile page will be ignored} ----- -----
Greetings! I am a F.A.G. volunteer for Atchison County, KS. If you have any questions about cemeteries here, feel free to email me and I will try my best to answer.
I am also working on getting the cemeteries from surrounding counties entered / corrected. -----------------

'Atchison County Kansas Cemetery Listing' 1986 by Roxanna Tosterud (to help find cemeteries).
Don Henry, who either walked those cemeteries himself or transcribed them from the following book(s): 'Abandoned and Semi-active Cemeteries of Kansas' Vol (I, II, & III) by Don L Ford'.
Atchison County Kansas Historical Society publications: '50 Cemeteries'. 'Mt. Vernon Cemetery' 'Mt. Calvary Cemetery' (Looking for a copy of 'Oak Hill and Military' book from same)

Information used for background and 'trees' on the CAIN memorials in Mount Vernon Cemetery (Atchison Co., KS) are from:

Note:
All 'Date of Death' fields that were originally from the above sources (books / website) are actually the burial dates. Most cemeteries only record the burial date as that is what they have in their records.
Please let me know when the burial date is incorrect and you know the Death date. Thank you.

Notes: ------ If I have prepared a memorial for your immediate family member and you would like it transferred to you, please use the Edit link located in the upper right hand corner of each memorial and the Suggest a Correction (S.A.C.) option.
I have no problem transferring memorials... just ask (and use the S.A.C. link).
Also, if you find any errors I have made, please use the EDIT tab on the memorials to send me a Suggest a Correction. I appreciate people helping me fix errors.
Also please send any additional information you have via the same method and I will add it to the memorial. --------
Sometimes, real life gets in the way and I may not get something done within a few days... if you haven't heard from me after 2 weeks, please send me a reminder. -------- | |

 | RE: Charles Washburn One last thought... Did the cemetery give you the right location for Charles C? I do find it interesting there was another Charles Washburn in Section 33? Just a thought, in case no one else can find a marker for him in 33. | | | Neil Loftiss
 | RE: Charles Washburn I went back this morning to try to locate a marker for him. No luck. I walked all of Section 33 twice. I would expect him to be buried around the other Charles Washburn I found yesterday, no marker. I see Dale has claimed this memorial, I hope he has better luck. Sorry, I tried! Neil

 | Charles Washburn I'm sorry, I goofed. I went to find his marker, since you left the location. I indeed found Charles Washburn in the section, and posted it. Wrong dates. I assume his father. I will go back and see if I can find the correct one. Please re-request the photo. I am sorry for the confusion. | | | DeMaster
 | Dixie Lyn - Oak Hill Cemetery -# 22859959 Franz.. Thanks for all the difficult and tedious work you put into maintaining the Atchison cemetery recordings as much as possible. I thought I'd let you know that I located the surname of Dixie Lyn ? - Find A Grave Memorial# 22859959 and have corrected it. Her surname is Fitzpatrick according to the Kansas Room at the Atchison County Library. Thank you for pointing out our oversight.Added by DeMaster on Apr 05, 2013 8:45 PM | | | | [View all messages...] |
