Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been recording genealogy and family histories for approximately 40 years. This has always been an interest of mine--since childhood. I live on a piece of the old farm where I was born and my family has owned for generations. Several lines of my ancestors have been in this area of Southeast Georgia for over 200 years. I am a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, both of which I am very proud.

I have been a member of Find A Grave for much longer than stated above. I was unable to access my old account and had to start anew. I've always enjoyed visiting old cemeteries, as well as old houses.

My husband, Larry, and I have published two pictorial history books: "Treutlen County, Georgia" in 2008 and "Montgomery County, Georgia" in 2010. These books can be purchased online at Arcadia Publishing Co. We enjoyed visiting people in these counties who invited us into their homes and allowed us to scan their precious family photographs.

N O T E:
Anything I post, photos or memorial biographies, may be copied and used for personal use as long as you give me credit, just as I personally do if I can find the source.

I welcome corrections and additions to my posts and will respond to all messages. This site is a wonderful tool, but it is only effective if those who post memorials will strive to place them in the correct cemeteries and will continue to maintain them.

Wm J Findley/Oak Park Cemetery
Wm Findley is a rather distant cousin whose grave I discovered several years ago when visiting the grave of my maternal grandfather there in the Oak Park Cemetery. And since I see that you manage the find a grave memorial for Wm J, I was hoping you might be able to help clear up a bit of confusion concerning his burial plot.

There is a Mary H Lancaster (1890-1973) also buried in the same plot. Would you happen to have any idea how she & Wm J Findley and/or his wife Christian Charity are connected? I've yet to find any connection between any of them during my own family research, & I can't help but be curious.

Any assistance you might be able to offer will be most gratefully appreciated.

RE: Edward Williamson
The reason you cannot remove it or hide it is because the photo has slipped to the second page. If the cemetery picture was on the first page you would have the option to hide it. If you need further assistance with this, please contact an admin at

We were happy to make the photo for you. The verse at the bottom of the stone reads: “Though Lost To Sight To Memory Dear". It is hard to read in the photo. I have submitted a request to have it noted on Mr. Mosley's Memorial.

RE: Edward Williamson
I'm going to explain this one more time. My picture is dated 2004, your memorial is dated 2011. I CANNOT post date a picture. My picture is the gate shot, designated by FindaGrave to be placed on all memorials. I CANNOT REMOVE IT. You can if you remove all your photos, hide it, and then put all your photos back on.

designated cemetery photo
The cemetery photo is displayed automatically and does not count toward the 5 photo limit.

RE: Edward Williamson
If a cemetery photo has been designated by admin to serve as the default photo to appear on individual memorial pages in that cemetery, it will appear automatically on all memorials. Not all cemeteries have a default photo designated. As I have stated on numerous occasions, I did not add that photo to your uncle's page AND I cannot remove it. You are only allowed 5 photos unless a memorial is sponsored, removing that photo will not allow you to add more as you already have 5. I posted the instructions from FindaGrave so you might understand how that photo was placed there. Please contact an admin at FindaGrave if you need further assistance. Good day.

What kind of photos may be added to a memorial page?
You may add photos of the headstone, of the person, family, or home. Do not add photos of the cemetery gate to the memorial but instead add them to the cemetery's page. If a cemetery photo has been designated by admin to serve as the default photo to appear on individual memorial pages in that cemetery, it will appear automatically. Not all cemeteries have a default photo designated. There is a limit of 5 photos for non-famous memorials that have not been sponsored. Sponsored memorials may have up to 20 photos. Any contributor can upload an appropriate photo to any memorial regardless of who manages the page. No permission from the memorial manager is needed. However, if there is already a photo of the headstone, do not add a second similar photo unless the original is of poor quality and the new photo is dramatically better. This leaves room for photos of the deceased within the five-photo limit on unsponsored memorials. Please note that it is not appropriate to delete a page and substitute it with a new memorial that you have created just because you don't like a photo that someone else has added. If the photo is an appropriate addition to the memorial, it will be allowed to remain.

RE: George Dewey Collins

Thanks for responding and clearing up the confusion. My goal is accurate data as well as trying to tie the family together for genealogical and historical records. Since all of these records are direct relatives of my father, my main objective again is accurate data.

Thank you,

Dennis Collins
