I have been working on our family trees sence 1975. I use to take my Mom with me to the old cemeteries and she'd tell me the old family stories of the ones that were here before Indiana & Michigan were states. I've been blessed to hear those stories all my life.|
It is my intent to help the genealogists now and in the future with their family trees by sharing the information (news clippings & memory cards) saved by my Mother, Grandmother and Mel's Aunt Emma.
This site is important to Carol, so when she's not feeling her best, I've decided to help her out. Mel

I'm sorry I didn't say thank you anyway for your help sooner than this. Been a crazy summer here. :)
|William Borneman||RE: Beardsley's|
Looks like you've cleared all of mine. Many thanks!!
|Barb Szabo||William & Minnie Rabun|
Thank you for the marriage date of William Rabun & his wife Minnie (Smith). I have added the info to their memorials. I am always grateful for any info on any member of my family.
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
With the information you have supplied, I have added it to her Find A Grave page (122218458). I hope this helps clear up the mystery.

You are most welcome. The pain & anguish that was felt by his mother, dealing with the trouble finding out what happened to her son, and the whole story which was typical for many families of soldiers, needed to be added to this memorial.
Pvt. Tallerday was not a relative but he sure was our hero. Michigan mother
|Gary Myers||RE: What type of camera do you use?|
Thanks for the compliment - for me it was a trial and error procedure. Tombstones can be difficult. My camera is just a run of the mill Canon PowerShot A520 about ten years old. Less than $200 at the time. I don't know about the quality of photos from smart phones - don't have one.
More important factors are having the sun in the right direction or actually, not direct sun. But the main factor is having a half way decent photo enhancing computer program. All my photos I've spent 3 or 4 minutes cropping, straitening, adjusting contrast and balance, sometimes adjusting sharpness, etc. It's pretty much playing with each photo to bring it out to the best reasonable.
When I go out for a 'shoot' I basically just go down the line without much regard to lighting, closeness, being straight, etc. and then touch them up at home. An additional hint - if the stone is flat on the ground, consider shooting it upside down if the lighting is better. Helps keep shadows from being a problem.
Hope this helps a bit and good luck.
|Diane Melady||Jean C. Gilpin|
Thank you for taking the time to tell me of the duplicate entry. Jean Gilpin is my mother. Her maiden name was Jean Carol Cox. She was never adopted by her stepfather, George Casaday. This is why I have not deleted my entry. So I am leaving it as is. One day I will add all the information in the other entry and then that one can be deleted.
Have a great day.

|Glenda Barry||RE: Irvan Hochstetler - Miller Amish Cemetery|
Okay, thanks for letting me know.
I hope you both are doing well. We are doing fairly well, my hubby has cancer from Agent Orange, but right now is hanging in there. So thank God for the many blessings that we have.
Take care and let me know if I can help you.
