We started out just two guys who have an interest in genealogy and old things.
One of us (Eric) has relatives at Multnomah Park, the other (David) is repaying a debt to genealogists who supplied him with a huge amount of information from Sweden.
We have listed most of the graves in this large public cemetery, which contains over 12,000 residents. We have not, and probably will not, list the most recent burials in the cemetery because of privacy concerns. The 'death' dates for people may be their burial dates. We are working off Metro's data base which gives the burial date of the deceased up until the 1970's.

The data base supplied to us by Metro, the current managing agency for Multnomah Park, has a lot amount of unknowns, and that's where the X's come in. IF you see an "X" in the plot information it means it is unknown in the data base that we have nearly finished transcribing and entering for all people to see and use. Note that Metro inherited the records from another agency who inherited them from a previous owner, who in turn inherited them from previous owners.

Check out Metro's webpage for Multnomah Park Cemetery:

If you have any information on any of the residents of Multnomah Park, please use the new correction on FindAGrave to let us know. It is much quicker and easier for us - and will get done sooner than the 'old' way.

Please make sure you have the right person, not just a person with the same name.

We have added some people to the Multnomah Park Cemetery online FAG database even though they do not appear in the online Metro Pioneer cemeteries database. We have done so because their death certificate and/or Oregonian funeral notice indicates they were buried there. The burial location will be noted as: "unknown - does not appear in cemetery records." These people may be buried elsewhere. We don't know, and the death certificate information is not always reliable.

We are making periodic trips to the state archives in Salem to make copies of Death Certificates. We do update information with data from the various death certificates - when we have the time. We have, but generally do not post the certificates on FAG. If you would like one please inquire. Driving an hour to Salem to copy documents in the state archives is beyond what is a normal volunteer activity - especially with the price of gas.

Thank you, David and Eric.

Thor Skogset
Hey There,
On Aug 1, 2012, you sent me information to update for Thor Skogset. During 2012 - 13, I was ill on and off. I put requests in a file, "Findagrave Not Done," for those I couldn't get to at any given time. I found this file today. I do apologize for taking years to complete such an easy task.

Dave and Eric, My name is Dan Smith and I have been looking for my great grandmother. It turns out you had my grand uncle, William J. Hampton on Find A Grave and I received all his information From the funeral home that cared for him. The funeral home that cared for my great grandmother(if this is her)went out of business many years ago and the information is lost. She was married to Henry A. Hampton when she died and he worked for Portland city as a blacksmith. She was born 1876 in Kentucky and died in 1923 in Oregon. I believe you have her on Find A Grave(if this is her) and another grand uncle(I never new his name) who died in 1916 that I believe may be buried in the same cemetery with her. If there is anyway you could help me, I would be greatly!!!! Ella Hampton's maiden name was Lawson and her daughter(my grandmother, Marita K. (Hampton) Aleshire) only remembers her being in a wheelchair. Thankyou, Dan Smith.

Is there somewhere I can look for the information on this grave to find out who this LAURA B SMITH is? I am looking for a Laura B Smith Adam born Aug 1886 and died April 10, 1948. She was married to John Adam, who ran a printing shop in Portland, OR.

Dear David and Eric,
My apologies for sending you on a wild goose chase. I submitted the request on behalf on another person, but the information is at home on my desk top; will need to get to it when I can. Since my accident on Feb 17th, except for being at Kaiser from March 2nd to 5th (surgery), I've been at the Friendship Care Center on SE Holgate (Portland) which is operated by IOOF. They have some really great exhibits of antiques and photos regarding Portland history. I took pictures while "free wheeling" around in a wheelchair last week. They didn't turn out very well, will need to come back in a few months and take better ones. I've found it interesting that I am being cared for at an IOOF care center, considering so many of my relatives belonged to it in the past and many are buried at IOOF Cemeteries thru out the U.S. Coincidence? I think it's God working anonymously.

Thank you so for the photo of my grandparents' headstone. Looks like I need to go visit this Spring and clean up the overgrowth. I appreciate you more than you know; you've helped me so much over the past 4+ yrs. Take Care.
