Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in Northern Indiana and am very interested in the Civil War. One of my hobbies is to visit the graves of Indiana Civil War Soldiers. To date, my dad and I have visited over 1,930 cemeteries and have found the gravesites of over 36,900 Indiana Soldiers, as well as some 9,000 soldiers from states other than Indiana. We have also located the gravesites of over 1,700 Confederate soldiers buried in the Hoosier state. I am also trying to find the grave sites of all of Indiana's Civil War Colonels. I am also interested in the 8th Indiana Infantry, Company I, and the 12th Indiana Infantry. I am also looking for every Chaplain that served in an Indiana Regiment in the Civil War. If you know of any gravesites you think I may have missed, or have some interesting information, don't hesitate to contact me. I am also working on a book about Indiana's soldiers that died during the Civil War. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if you are looking for a Hoosier that served in the civil war send me an e-mail and I'll see if I can help in any way. Currently, I'm also trying to locate every Civil War veteran in Kosciusko County, Indiana, and upload them to Find-A-Grave. I am also a Christian, and look forward to life after the grave. Thanks.

That is what is on the Discharge papers for my husbndsGreat Great GrandfatherAbraham Freeman. Ifooundd your find-a-grave site and realizedd there is no memorial to his service associated with his grave. Is there some sort of stake with a plaque that can be obtained to designate their
civil war service/?

He is buried in the Acme, Indiana cemetery.I have his discharge paperwhere he enrolled Oct 1961 and dischargged May 1862. and anotherform wherehe changed from Co C Ind Calvary(enrolled Dec 20 , 1863 and dicharged Sept 1865. So he did double duty?

AAn y info you have on getting something tomark his grave would be appreciated. Hoping to hear from you. Debbie Shake

Hazel Gertrude Stephens Yates Tombstone Photo
Eric, I wanted to thank you so much for adding the tombstone photo in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Kosciusko, Indiana for Hazel Gertrude Stephens Yates Memorial #102846095. It has helped me, still looking for her husband Elester Clayton Yates born 16 Jan 1927 Buchanan County, Virginia; died 3 August 1972. The sad thing I do not know where he died. SS death index did not show location. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Nice to see you are a Christian I am also. Thanks again.

Indiana Civil War Vets
If I ever come across any Civil War Veterans that served in any Indiana Units, do you want me to give you a heads-up? I can't guarantee there are any in my area since most people here migrated west. I compiled a book that is more of a registry of the Soldiers that are buried in this area of their name, rank, unit, etc. I'll check that first.

Dr. Webster Lowman #105300288
I didn't know if you were interested in Webster Lowman for his Civil War Service or for family history. But in any case, his whole family is in one plot so I photographed them all. I'll have them posted tomorrow morning. I just got in and it's been a long day.

Antoinette Waughtel Sorensen
Thank you for the transfer of Starling Waughtel to me. It took me, it seemed like, forever to find anything on Starling when I first started looking for him. I had a couple distant cousins in Indiana who went in and cleaned up his marker and did some repair work on it - this was probably about 10 years or so ago though. My paternal great grandfather James Harvey Keith served in the Civil War, out of Decatur County, Indiana. He died at Jefferson Barracks in Missouri but although I have a picture of his marker in Missouri I somehow have him in Decatur County also on Find A Grave. Will have to go back in and check that out but seems his widow did go down into Missouri and transport his body back. At least that is in the back of my mind at this time.
