In June 2008, I retired as the administrator of the Delta Cemetery in Delta, Colorado. The information I am entering is from the cemetery records and the headstones. Please feel free to contact me with additional information or corrections, as I will continue to update the records for the Delta Cemetery. I am, of course, happy to transfer management of any of the memorials I have created to descendents who meet the Find A Grave guidelines for transfer. |
My current project is to take pictures of as many headstones in the Delta Cemetery as I am able to, beginning with the older sections. I have finished photographing and posting to Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5 and 9. If you find a memorial for someone buried in any of those five Blocks but there is no headstone picture attached, it probably means the grave is unmarked. However, I will be glad to double check, if you will contact me.
I have also finished photographing Blocks 8, 10 and 12, and have posted all those pictures. I am currently photographing in Block 11 and am posting those pictures as I go.
Of course, I am happy to respond to requests for pictures of headstones anywhere in the Delta Cemetery.
Names I am researching in my own family tree include Phillips, Bingham, Douglas, Baker, Wire, Shoesmith, Williams, Laux, Schwarm, Hicks and Griffith. I would love to hear from anyone who may be related to me!

|Faffie||Fred C Day|
Hi, Lynn -
How did you come to put Fred C Day's middle name as Clayton. I had, for a time, "the" Day family bible and didn't pick up that middle name. His birth and death years match my records, but I'm really curious. I'm not learning much about his family until his great grandson's family, with whom I'm involved. I'm believing this is the man, since he died in Delta as ours did, but I don't want to chance on making a mistake. Thanks for all you've done!!

Thank you so much for the edits.

My uncle, Lt. Vernon Ellis, is not buried in the Delta, Colorado, cemetery. This is just a memorial that his parents put up in his honor. Vernon is buried in the Sicily-Rome Military Cemetery in Nettuno, Italy.

Wanted to enter two corrections for Charlesworth,he was born April 17,1864 and his death was on October 1,1931 making his age 67 not 57.Have you by any chance taken a photo of his headstone?
I am trying to find a copy of his death certificate as well.

What I assume is that Florence Eva moved with the family here in Colorado and something tragic happened to her (like crossed paths with indians or, there was a flu epidemic here when they arrived and she caught it). I don't know what the cause of her death was. If we could find her certificate of death, that would answer the question. Back in 1900 Delta, Colorado, a LOT of indians were here. They were pushed out of the mountains of Utah and Nevada and looking for a place to claim as their "reservation", which is still intact today.

Thank you for your prompt response to my request for additions and links. It is likely his wife is Imogene 13623326 as they are buried in adjacent spaces. Perhaps there is cemetery record for proof.
