I have been a genealogist more than 50 years ago (1966), researching the families of Butler County, Al. That is the only way I could learn about my Alabama family because my parents moved to West Texas so my dad could find work in 1950.|
Since that time I have learned much, but have much to learn. I fear that the passage of time is against me as so many of my family are now gone and most of the younger generations are not interested in family heritage. Still, I search hoping to tear down walls leading to information, one brick at a time.
I am a professional photographer and have recently started taking photos of Butler County families markers that moved to and died in Texas. In doing this, I hope to help other genealogist who may not have the opportunity to actual visit a cemetery where their relatives are buried.
Surnames: Stinson - Black - Morrow - Sims - Stringfellow - Smith/Smyth (3 sets) - Owen - Marsh - Brannon/Branum - Eidson/Hitson - Perry - Wilson - Jordan - Lawhorn/Lowhorn

Hello Mildred, I am D. Marshall Satterwhite my cousin married Jerry Smith Stinson of Nacogdoches County, Texas. I am tracing his genealogy for him simply because I am interested.
I have a stone wall at A. Stinson b. Alabama about 1827. The family has a spelling Artensious Stinson also Artentious who m. Elizabeth Rushing; do you know who his parents were? I suspect he is a grandson of Andrew Stinson b. 1792 d. 1860 AL. but I cannot identify which son of Andrew is the Father of A. Stinson.

If you will, could you please send me any corrections or added info from Basil's memorial, that way I will receive a direct connection to the memorial you want info added to or corrections made on.
|Bette Ward||RE: Dorothy Cowart Lipham Stinson Mills|
i tried to send this to the email address-it was returned to me as undeliverable
Hi Mildred - I think this is the way we are connected:
me: Bette Gardner
Parents: Vennie Ainsworth - Henry T (Dock) Gardner 1911-1978
G'parents,mother's side: Wm Walter Ainsworth 1880-1963 - Mary Frances
GG'parents: John Andrew Cooper Stinson 1846-1910 - Annie Elizabeth
If I have this info correct: I think William Forest Stinson is my 2nd
cousin; that you are my 2nd cousin 1x removed - Is Charlie Stinson
1923- your Dad? If so, he is my 2nd cousin. I do not know if your Mom,
Lucile Smith is related to any of my Smiths.
I hope to get to Greenville next month for the Smith reunion. I did not
grow up knowing my relatives. Most of the little that I know and the
few people I have met has been thru my research (I am far from being an
expert) and from FB connections.I am still digging and trying to learn.

Mildred, I have linked Patricia Ann to her mom. I also requested for the manager of her mom's memorial to add the maiden name of Smith. (This is correct, isn't it). I find adding a woman's maiden name helps when searching for someone.
Thanks much for the information.
|Bette Ward||RE: Dorothy Cowart Lipham Stinson Mills|
So was her maiden name Cowart - married a Lipham, married William Forest Stinson, married a Mills?
|Princess Mia||Thank you|
Thanks for adding the pic...
|Mary Enzor Smith||Adams/Lowe|
Mildred, I have added the additional information you provided for Patricia Ann Lowe and Evelyn Adams. I also linked Patricia to her dad but didn't find a memorial for her mom. I sent the manager of Ray's memorial a request to add the birth and death dates shown on his headstone to his memorial. Please check out the memorials to make sure I have it correct.
I love this website. It has helped me connect with family that otherwise I would have never known about. I want to pay it forward by making my contribution. I still have a couple of cemeteries around Georgiana, I need to get back in.
It's good having contact with you after so long. If you need a photo from the Georgiana area, I go down once a week to visit a sister who lives in the Providence community.

I am searching for the burial places of my great-grandparents. Their names are George N. and Annie Young. I was told they were buried at a Place called Wolfcreek, somewhere north of Palestine, I think. I have not been able to find it. Have you any information about that place? If not, do you know of any phone numbers in the area where I might cal?
